I always thought that immortality is a bad gift. It doesn't give you any happiness and makes life much harder. Living that long can't be good for the mental state of mortal creatures.
This report is a little different when compared to the last one. What do you think?

Preface
While rare, immortal individuals have been recorded to exist in the known universe. While typically occurring in sapient individuals, non-sapient creatures have also been recorded. Variants of immortality have also been recorded, leaving an individual with immortality under specific conditions. Immortality has also been observed to have a negative impact on the mental state of sapient beings, causing severe degradation of the mental state in most recorded cases. This report is a summary of studies performed in the past.
Classifications:
Ageless-Subject does not age. Subject may still be killed or die of illness, but will not physically age past maturity (typically 20 in human races). Ancient subjects often start to suffer from mental illness after 5.43 generations, often caused by the repeated loss of the subject’s loved ones. Some subjects may actually be able to age physically and therefore are not immortal, but age slowly enough that they are not distinguishable before their deaths.
Invincibility-Subject cannot be harmed. Tissue structures will not degrade when damaged by objects outside of the cell wall. Subject will still age and may be killed by disease or poison. These subjects usually become arrogant after discovering this.
Perfect Immunity-Subject is immune to disease and toxins. The subject’s internal cell chemistry is unaffected by chemical or viral agents, appearing to be immune to illness. These subjects have longer life spans due to lack of illness in old age, most living to be twice as old as their peers.
Reanimation (Dependent Organs)-Subjects will return to life after being killed. These subjects can use magic to maintain movement in the absence of muscle structures and ATP. Often confused with zombies, subjects suffer from inhibited motor skills, decision making skills and communication skills immediately after reanimating. Subjects will retain injuries until they are treated and will not completely die unless all organic tissue belonging to the subject is destroyed. Subjects will go in brain death if the brain is destroyed, but will still be active with partial brain function if the brain is not completely destroyed.
Reanimation (Independent Organs)-Subject will return to life after being killed. Similar to D.O. reanimation, these subjects will still live even after sustaining mortal injuries. Unlike D.O. reanimation, the body will still function even in the absence of any brain function at all.
Regeneration-Subject can regenerate from any injury that is not immediately fatal. The subjects have been observed to have regenerative capacity far above that of any other organism, requiring only two weeks to completely regenerate missing limbs. These subjects will recover easily from disease and illness. If the subject’s body is not destroyed such that the cells can no longer replicate, the subject will regenerate all organs and tissues completely, including the nervous system. The subject will not have any recollection of their life and will be missing a great deal of their personality until they develop a replacement personality or have one implanted.
Regeneration (Intact Mind)-Subject will regenerate from any injury as long as a functioning cell of their body exists. These subjects will retain their memories and personality as long they can regenerate their body. These subjects have an unparalleled regenerative capacity, regenerating their whole body from a cell culture in a month. Until the cells form a proper brain for the mind, the subject’s mind will exist as a wraith like entity, similar to that of a ghost.
Reincarnation-Subject still lives and dies like normal individuals, but will reincarnate with their personality and memories intact. Subjects become extremely introverted upon discovery, and can hide this trait extremely well. These subjects will be extremely manipulative and intelligent (due to retaining memories after death) and can be extremely dangerous because of this.
Resurrection-Subject lives and dies like any other individual, but upon violent death their body will shatter (in most cases) and reform at a different time and place completely unharmed. The time it takes for the subject to reform depends on how weak they were when they were killed and how far they are from an object that empowers them. The subject will reform quicker if they choose to reform closer to an empowering object. Subjects appear to actually be completely dead, being confused to as to whether or not they have passed on after returning. This raises questions surrounding how the subject actually decides where to reform.
Complete Immortality-These subjects cannot be killed at all. Due to extreme mental instability caused by living for an extremely long time without hope of ever dying, these subjects are often too broken to be dangerous or helpful. Those who are not broken are often pacifistic and nihilistic caused by watching the ages of the universe come and go. These subjects are extremely intelligent and offer cryptic, yet sagely, advice.
Multiple Types at Once-This has been observed in subjects before and is extremely common in the subjects observed during studies. Records show that it’s rarer to have a single kind of immortality without another. Studies into why the types are seldom alone are awaiting approval.
Bound Immortality-A type of pseudo immortality where the subject’s life force is bound to an object instead of their body. Subjects will live as long as the object they are bound to is intact. The type of immortality granted is decided during the process that binds the subject to the object. The subject will experience the effects of that immortality as long as the object is intact.
Medically Induced Immortality-Pseudo immortality granted by the application of extremely advanced medical technology and techniques. Individuals who have access to the medical facilities that can reverse the ageing process and cure any disease or injury can live as long as they can get medical attention before they die. This essentially grants the subject with immortality.
The Psychological Consequences of Immortality
Immortality has many consequences for individuals afflicted with it. While the likelihood of suffering from mental illness depends on the conditions the individual lives in, most immortals suffer from mental illness at some point after they discover their condition.
Most individuals who are invincible usually become extremely arrogant, developing superiority complexes. Subjects usually become more aggressive after learning of their condition, picking fights they would not be able to win without their immortality. Most attempt to become professional fighters or high ranking soldiers/hunters but fail to do so due to a lack of training and skill. Those that continue to pick fights make many enemies and are almost all victims of poisoning.
Subjects who have immunity usually do not suffer from mental illness until late in their lives. Subjects usually suffer from depression brought on by a loss of loved ones and a feeling of loneliness.
Ageless subjects usually become extremely vain when they realize they do not age physically. They realize this when they notice peers of similar ages looking significantly older than themselves when they themselves realize they should also look as old. This results in an inflated ego based on the subject’s self-image improving dramatically. This will often last until the subject realizes they are not dying like their peers, at which point subjects either find friends who look similar in age (to repeat the cycle of gloating and bragging) or become extremely lonely. Subjects will often find ways of coping until they realize that they will always outlive their peers, at which point subjects often fall into depression. These subjects often do not attempt or contemplate suicide for an extremely long time because they assume that they are completely immortal. Most who are in this kind of depression, if they haven’t already died due to illness or violence, will commit suicide very soon after. Some individuals also commit suicide out of boredom, due to having done everything they believe the universe has to offer. Suicide intervention attempts are rarely successful in these individuals. Those that use their time wisely often become specialists in many fields, due to having no time constraints, and therefore, no limit on how long they have to pay off debts.
Reanimating subjects will often suffer from shock induced by the trauma of surviving often fatal situations. Most individuals often suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) induced by reanimating for the first time. Because reanimation renders the assigned triage priority for that subject to its minimum, they are often left to wait by medical professionals in favour of those at risk of dying. While this makes sense from a statistical perspective, it leaves feelings of resentment in subjects towards medical professionals and the favoured patients. Those who reanimate repeatedly and are left waiting for treatment will usually develop violent and/or attention-getting behavior. Subjects may become extreme risk takers or be extremely afraid of coming to any harm whatsoever. Subjects who are ageless as well will often suffer degeneration of the mind due to constant and repeated shock.
Reincarnating subjects will be extremely disoriented the first few times they reincarnate. As they begin to realize their true nature, they begin to become gifted and manipulative individuals. Subjects who have reincarnated many times are extremely driven and have an innate understanding of psychology far above that of most individuals their physical age. Subjects often develop psychopathy and arrogance, due to being far superior to their peers while they are still physically young but still being treated like a child. This is combined with not fearing death due to being able to reincarnate leads to subjects having no problem with engaging in organized crime and white-collar crime (subjects see themselves as being above blue-collar crime) as they are simply a means to an end (due to having to restart every reincarnation). Subjects often prefer to commit suicide instead of serving any sentence they feel would be too strong due to being able to use death as another chance.
Resurrecting subjects also suffer from symptoms similar to that of reanimating subjects, but with reduced effects due to actually experiencing the afterlife. Subjects may abuse the property of resurrecting to avoid dying from chronic disease and illness, committing suicide to cure themselves of incurable diseases by using a completely new body. These subjects do not often suffer from mental illness, but this type is seldom found without ageless immortality. Subjects with both become extremely similar to reincarnating subjects, the difference being that they will retain their appearance, and therefore, their station in life. These subjects are often disconnected from the concept of mortality, as death has no meaning to them, and may have a callous disregard for life that is borderline homicidal.
Other Notes
-The high ranking members of the primary factions are all granted a kind of pseudo immortality. Since the primary factions have access to technology to prevent aging and can cure any disease, the elite members are almost all more than 200 000 years old.
-The twelve Grandmasters of the Zypher Organization, the two Leaders of the Order of Helios and the Emperor of the Legion of Gaea are all ageless resurrecting immortals. The Grandmasters are the oldest, having existed since the Silenced Era, 736 000 years ago.
-As long as an immortal has a purpose, they can still function even while suffering from severe mental illness. This is why the primary factions have not fallen apart for more than 700 000 years.
-No immortals from before the Silenced Era have been recorded to exist. This leads to the theory that magdium is somehow necessary to facilitate immortality. Exactly how is unknown.
-Ageless immortals often become skilled mages due to having far more time to refine their technique and skills.
-Invincible immortals become invaluable soldiers and hunters if they are properly trained and disciplined. As they cannot be harmed directly, they can perform much riskier operations without fear of the consequences.
-A man known as Brandon Theo has claimed to be able to kill completely immortal individuals and has backed this claim with evidence. While anti immortal weapons and strategies are used by the primary factions, no one has been able replicate Mr. Theo’s feats. No devices or tools have been able to record or observe how Mr. Theo fights, resulting in it being impossible to understand what methods he uses to accomplish these feats.
-It is not possible to make someone immortal. An individual must be born with immortality to have it.
-It was purposed to make to pseudo immortality available to the public at one point. Due to the myriad of severe mental illnesses caused by immortality, it decided to let the public be allowed “the gift of natural death”. There are no plans at current to make it available any time soon.
-Very old immortals make skilled and talented tacticians due to their experience with people allowing them to easily predict the actions of others.
-Extremely old immortals have a warped sense of time. This makes even impatient immortals able to wait for years without complaint.
