Okay, here's the deal here...
caesarcub created an image I found quite inspiring...

Now, I had never heard of a shoggoth. Wikipedia cleared up that little bit of ignorance for me, but not before I'd already taken off on my own tangent. Since I had misinterpreted the image as being an homage to Saturday morning TV shows featuring cartoon bands, I told Caesar that I wanted to create their hit single, one that would sound like it belonged on a 45 rpm record. He was kind enough to let me try it, even though I think he was hoping for something more heavy and serious. And even though I've clearly gone the power pop route here, I will, so help me, give him a nice heavy mix.
This is halfway there. The performance of the rhythm guitars and bass are pretty decent, and the part being played by the drums is about 95% there; however, the drum sounds are FAR too polite! I need to break out the heavy virtual drums and compress the hell out of them, rather than leave these wimpy drum-machinish sounds. The vocals are probably as good as they're going to get, though I have some mixing tricks to put the edge on them as well. And, worst of all, there's no lead guitar here yet. If I were Pete Townsend, I'd play one brilliant part that combined lead and rhythm. However, that ain't gonna happen. I gotta overdub and punch... a lot. I have to stay within my skill level.
The best thing about this for me so far is that I've completely dodged the issue that nothing rhymes with "leash", yet that will probably bother no one. :)
