This is a very interesting piece. First of all, the character in the picture is based on an actual historical character. Rani Lakshmibai, also known as Lakshmbai, was the Rani of Jhansi, the ruler of an Indian state in the 1850s after the death of her husband, who was one of the leaders of the Sepoy Rebellion against the British, although a reluctant one, thanks to a misunderstanding between her and the Brits which forced her to join the rebels. She was the only leader of the revolt who earned the respect of the Brits after they have put down the rebellion. In reality, the Rani died during the revolt, but in the furry universe that my brother and I'd created, the Rani survived the revolt and escaped, finally being forced to leave India. She would emigrate to the U.S., moving to Louisiana, just in time for the U.S. Civil War. As can be seen by the picture, she'd joined the Confederates, actually becoming an officer of the Louisiana Tigers (yes, one of the Confederate Regiments was actually nicknamed that) Regiment, serving in the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia.
The character was created for my involvement in a Barr Wars related zap serial called the Crusades.
The pose is loosely based on Romantic and post-Romantic period paintings showing Officers on Horseback.
Yes, the horse didn't come out too well, as Scott was learning how to draw real animals at the time. He still is, as he just need experience to draw them correctly.
This is the only major picture that was actually done of her, as she would make only one other appearance in the Crusades.
Will I ever have her drawn again? No ideaa at this time. But, if I did, sorry folks, but she will only be wearing period clothing.
Oh, and she's suppose to be a snow leopardess, and her rank is that of a two-star general in the Confederate Army.
