(I still suggest the 70° angle for screen tones, as well as rasterizing -> blurring the layer a bit before saving for the web.)

I forget, is there a way to adjust the angle in MSV when laying down the tones? Or does it just need to be free transformed to that angle? Definitely good ideas- I'll remember those for next time!

So, when you have your shaded grayscale layer, you go to the Layer Property palette and choose the screen tone effect, then you should have all the options right there. Size of the dots, shape of the dots and the angle. To get to angle you just have to expand the dot settings.

As for the blur thing: Since all these Layer Effects are non-destructive, you will have to right click on the layer and select Rasterize before applying a blur filter.
I use Gaussian blur, but the strength depends on the size of the dots and resolution of the image. Just enough to avoid that Moiré pattern after resizing.

All angled and blurred now! So the angle option was right under my nose all along... danke sehr!!! It looks way, way better now. I really appreciate the guidance!
