When I Listen To The Lessons I Have Learned
"Take me to the docks, there's a ship without a name there
And it is sailing to the middle of the sea
The water there is deeper than anything you've ever seen
Jump right in and swim until you're free
I will remember your face
'Cause I am still in love with that place
But when the stars are the only things we share
Will you be there?
Money came like rain to your hands while you were waiting
For that cold long promise to appear
People in the churches started singing above their hands
They say, "My God is a good God and He cares"
I will remember your face
'Cause I am still in love with that place
When the stars are the only things we share
Will you be there?
I've got a plan, I've got an atlas in my hands
I'm gonna turn when I listen to the lessons I've learned
I've got a plan, I've got an atlas in my hands
I'm gonna turn when I listen to the lessons I've learned ."

Wielder! I've kept peeking at this on my phone all day and now I finally get to sit down and write a real response. I always think I have some idea of how amazing my commissions will look, but you always manage to surprise me by making them that much more beautiful. Strangely, the first thing I noticed on the completed version was the little water droplets on her whiskers... a tiny detail SO perfect for the setting and tone. I feel like I could reach out and touch the texture of the sand, the waves, and the clouds... and the the lighting on her clothes and fur is so pretty. I really don't think I could tell you everything I love... I keep looking at it and noticing new things. <3
Side notes, the musician's name is Benjamin Francis Leftwich, and this particular location is Cannon Beach... Portland is a little bit inland! :3
Thanks so much again for this, Wielder... I look forward to the next time I can commission you.

I am so glad you like it! I LOVED the songs and the pictures you sent me to inspire this one, so I'm pleased my interpretation is something you are happy with.
And thank you so much for bringing the musician's name and the location to my attention. CORRECTED! I'll have to go there one day. The pictures you sent were gorgeous.

Derp, forgot to fav this! And no probs. :3
Yes, you definitely must visit the Oregon coast sometime. Even though it never felt like home to me, it's still a place unlike any in the world and I'll always hold it dear. The ocean is always beautiful, of course, but it's especially magical when it's foggy and tree-lined rather than the stereotypical sunny and hot. (Of course it wasn't always foggy, as you saw in the sunset pictures!). Some parts of the Pacific Northwest are actually considered rainforest! I hope you'll make it there someday. :3
