if he would do something this, that would be even better! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aF1kVZz6ag8

Oh heck, theres lots wrong with it. The handpaws are too thick, which makes them tricky to pose. I rigged elbows facing backwards, which though anatomically correct, puts way too much strain on the shoulder skinning. For some reason max08's mo cap is spongy and the jaw lacks pop syllable wise. Theres a bunch of clipping errors with the paws passing through his belly. White claws would show up better against his black fingers and toes.
I split the brow movement into two different morph targets, one for a brow raise and one for frown. The idea was that the raise could be used to accent syllables whereas the frown would be used for intonation. It sort of worked but im not sure ill use it, its more complex than needs be and im a sucker for simplicity.
I slapped a flex modifyer right across the head and im surprised how nicely it worked. I need to alter the dampning however as his ears came across a little rubbery.
On the subject of rubber, i added a little bump mapping noise on his shorts to make them crumpled. What this actually did was make them look like they were made out of clay, which, with the soft shading on his body, gives him a slightly claymation feel that while unintentional, I kind of like.
Anyway, point is that your always welcome to make critique - Theres always a good chance that youll come up with something i missed. And if I disagree then its just a matter of opinion.
But im very unlikely to go back and make changes. I put these anims out knowing full well their shortcomings, because I do it for fun. When im being paid, ill spend hours chasing clipping errors around the mesh. But thats what makes that my job and this my hobbey =O)

Wow, you noticed a lot of the same things as I did.I conticed a few other things also.
I notice that you can't really see the mouth so well. maybe you could put a small omni light near it and just have it as a really small light source.
Also the animation seems a little off. Not only from the audio, but also in general. It just looks like it could of had more emotion and movement. I know you didn't have that much time and everything. But you still did a really great job.
But this is something I thought might look good with it. Is that maybe near the end you could have an ear twitch that animals do right after he says "Come on down to". What do you think.
But all together I Love how everything came together. The look of the character and the voice gives him an surfer look and feel. You did an really great job

A 3/4 camera view will probably help you better read the character's lipsync better... Avoid straight on views.
Longer pauses between ideas in the dialogue, will also help the performance 'breath'. Casual characters should typically have a slower tempo to their speach.
Great test. Keep up the great work. *gropes Trendane*

Beleave it or not I *added* about a second of pauses into Tren's audio. The original was seriously slick but sounded like a radio ad where seconds cost dollars. If i have anything to do with it, Wedge is going to chill in time for his next recording session ;O)
Besides, I love... like... natral pauses... and... you know. Fun to animate and... stuff. ;O)
Good point on the camera. I honestly dont know why I went straight on - I was in a hurry to put the render going before I left the house.
