An awesome ref of my dragonself, Vikja! Detailed text ref is below, if you want to clarify some detail or another.
Anatomy:
Vikja has a body type similar to that of an Eastern dragon, with a long, snakelike torso and a feathery mane and tail-tip. He can fly, though he has no wings; he simply arcs through the air in a serpentine fashion. He can vary in size as needed, but his default size is about 10 feet tall, and 35' long from nose to tailtip.
For the most part, other than his feathers, Vikja is covered in periwinkle-blue scales, paler on the underside of his body from lower jaw to tail-tip. These scales are small and fine, and appear like skin from a distance. When shed, these scales are actually white: they only appear blue due to the cyanotic blood flow within.
Vikja's "eyes" are completely white and opaque, and lack eyelids. This is because they're actually not eyes: they're organs capable of detecting heat and magical flux that just happen to be in the position you'd expect eyes to be in. The small white "speckles" that run down the left side of his body serve the same purpose. When he's using magic, these spots expand and become "eyes" just like the ones in his face.
He has conical ears that can swivel to express his mood, as seen here. Together with his feathered head-crest, they're used to convey most of his emotional expressions, since he can't express much through his "eyes". As with a cat, ears flattened or pinned back suggest anger or fear; ears perked and upright suggest interest; ears held in a neutral, relaxed position suggest a calm mood. The feather-crest, on the other hand, takes its emotional cues from birds. If excited or happy to see you, his feathers will stand up and fluff out in a slow, methodical motion; if angry or flustered, the feathers will puff out suddenly and bristle.
His forepaws are mobile and flexible, and serve as both hands and feet. They have four digits, including an opposable "thumb", and are tipped with non-retractable claws. Additionally, the heel of each forepaw has a small dewclaw. His hands and feet do not have pawpads, but are scaled like a lizard's.
Vikja has no particular "breath weapon", though as a cute character trait in a non-serious picture, he might exhale a snowflake or two. :)
Character traits:
Vikja's a dragon currently inhabiting a frigid northern land that may or may not be Scandinavia, in some universe-line or another. While I say he's a dragon, in the folklore of the humans that run into him, he'd technically be termed a troll: a mysterious beast from a world overlapping with ours, not quite obeying the rules of our reality. In simpler terms, you could say that his species is dragon, but the nature of the matter that makes him up is Faerie, not Earthly.
As befitting this fae heritage, he's a playful, friendly creature, ever childlike and curious. That doesn't mean he lacks savvy, nor does it mean that he won't defend himself if there's a threat. But he prefers talking and tricking his way out of trouble to fighting, and he'd rather make allies than enemies. For the most part, he's easy-going and will roll with most plans, even if they seem extreme or ridiculous to others.
While he's not violent, morally speaking he's not always aligned with everyone around him, either. As a fae sort, he often genuinely doesn't see harm in a lot of things that people consider dangerous or even appalling. His species is a solitary one, and as such the only real "culture" he has is what he's picked up from various other species he's mingled with; he has no cultural taboos of his own. He simply acts as he feels is right, without recourse to any particular moral system from the outside.
Situations he might be found in:
Vikja's home is a place of snowy wastes, thick pine forests, craggy mountains against the steel-grey sky, and churning, dark seas lapping at the shoreline. However, as a fae creature, he may just as easily be found anywhere: from a ruined temple, to a modern-day transit system, to the vastness of outer space. He has a penchant for exploring strange and unusual places, and is likely to pop up where you least expect him!
