(sorry for double posting but it doesnt look like you got it when I tried sending it a moment ago)
So two months later and I'm still trying to figure it out, I'm still not sure if you were serious. I cant stop wondering what you meant so I just gotta ask: Was it really shoddy? I know some of the shading is weak, but overall is it just mediocre?
I'd like to know, I'm making an active effort to improve my work. Does the shading need more fine tuning, or is it simply a bad drawing?
I apologize if you werent being serious, but I'm interested in hearing constructive feedback if you were.

Oh I'm sorry, yikes I didn't mean to give you something to worry about. I wasn't terribly serious with that comment but it is based on my initial impression that the color work is perhaps a step above the linework - it's sketchy and especially the facial anatomy is just a little simplistic - which isn't a bad thing, I mean I still love your work (wouldn't be watching you if I didn't).
Overall the piece is still very strong, I just see the way some of the coloring clings to the lines on the torso for instance, sort of seeking out detail to embellish and accentuate and it suddenly becomes slightly apparent that the coloring artist was looking for just a little more hints at the shape and form to work with. Or at least that's my own interpretation.
The pencil shading is something that has me on the fence - it definitely lends a nice gritty and textured feel to the image that just works that much better with the texture the image takes on about half way down and sort of helps to make the smoother highlights really stand out (though I think if they were anything more than simple light-wrapping that that smoothness might start to clash). The logo at the bottom definitely goes too far in this regard - the clash is glaringly apartment. . . but hey it's a logo advertising a larger work to which this peice is related so of course that's allowed.
Looking at how effective the completely black shadows on the back, and to a lesser extent the jeans, makes me wonder if the piece wouldn't actually wind up having more depth if a sort of jack-kirby sort of shading were used. . . but that's just my personal preference so I'm probably just looking for that anyway.
Heh I hope that gives you a little something to work with - and I'm sorry about my first comment - I get in moods sometimes where for some reason I think it's appropriate to post vaguely insulting comments about images I really like because another part of me worries I'll make a huge post like this one and just come off as extreemly pretentious.
