Sushi is my FAVORITE food ever

It's not often I can find absolutely delicious, largely varying foods with lots of flavor, that are both served cold, and great for dinner.

I'm...Not a big fan of hot meals. I like warm meals, and cold meals generally, but so few prepared foods are meant to be eaten cold, and aren't super suuuuper light, like a snack. Haha!

love sushi, I like making it myself a lot too. My daughter is exceptionally talented in the making of sushi. I always have Nori about the place and medium grain or sushi rice. If in anything I keep a coupe cans of tuna and some mayo around as well, I always have carrots and some kind of green be it cucumber, avocado etc. So I cook up some rice and turn the lot into sushi when ever I feel the need. Not many shops about that are open nearby that make it anyhow. Yay for sushi *hugs*

Nice! I've been experimenting with making my own and have been pretty happy with the results, but I'm nowhere near restaurant good yet. We also live in a very landlocked midwestern place and my access to super fresh ocean fish is massively lacking. We'll be moving even more rurally though, so I need to learn to make it better - albeit it will most likely be with steak since that's what I'll have fresh. But I've seen some great recipes for beef rolls!

We have one that's open till I think like 10:30 or 11 on the weekends. :) That's where we ended up going and they were doing a happy hour pricing on rolls too, woo!

As someone that generally dislikes fish or any kind of seafood, I'm intrigued.

I feel like if you replace spots with stripes and sushi with steak, this would be me. =P

That is both Mbala and I! I've always disliked fish (it just tastes like dirty aquarium water to me no matter how well it is prepared or how 'not fishy' people tell me it is) - but fresh, quality sushi lacks that fishy flavor - I still don't like cooked rolls or some of the stronger flavored fishes (like salmon) in it, but I'm learning. For someone who hates fish (and has a mild shellfish allergy) I was surprised how much I've come to love it! If you ever come visit we'll have to bring you to our local place and inaugurate you. :) Even if you don't care for the fish there's a variety of vegetable versions that are delicious, and being midwest there's even like chicken terriyaki sushi, too. ^.^

The gravity of your hospitality and friendship pulls me ever stronger. I must visit!

I keep meaning to ask what the story behind the jaguar is <:? I did not know about this until very recently (via Nico)!

I have different animals for different aspects of my personality, jaguar is my 'female' side, wild boar is my 'male', and silver fox is just kind of 'me'. :) It's a longer story I'd be happy to share sometime, as that is simplifying it quite a bit, but I haven't been too comfortable sharing the jaguar with people for some years, but that's wearing off a bit. :) I represent her as a jaguar who is normal colored in the sunlight and melanistic in the shadows/night - which ripples seamlessly when she moves.

And here I was coming down here to ask since when did you have a jaguar character.... Thanks for the explanation!

I'd love to hear your story sometime! It sounds very similar to how I treat my "characters", in the sense of each representing some aspect of myself with one just being the sort of, everyday me. I think you also need a Beluga character ;}...just saying!

Eeee belugas! I soooort of have one, I just can't decide if it should be silver fox colored or just be the light grey/dapple color like babies are, but as an adult. Cause I have to be weird and I can't do just white. :) I decided Mbala should be a Narwhal as well, then we can fit and it makes sense with his Unicorn. :)
