Why does the Tiger I look so much better than the Tiger II? The sloped armor of the King Tiger is much more functional than a boxy frame like the Tiger I, and it works well on the t34. So why is the Tiger I design what people think of when they think of Tiger Tanks?

because the tiger II was lot less numerous than the tiger I, i suppose. Also arrived very late in WW2, and always putted in middle of impossible battles ( "oh yeah, 400 T-34? let`s stop them with 22 King Tiger!" <.< ) almost without fuel and with less trained crews....

the tiger I did autentic CARNAGES against the britishs and usa tanks, and even worse against the soviets, at least at the begun...

In ww2, any tiger tank = trouble.
