Endless Realms bestiary - Centaur
Bestiary artwork for Endless Realms, a D&D-like "pen and paper" fantasy RPG I'm working for.
This one was also kind of fun, partly because I got to use myself as a reference! Casey and I recently took a ton of reference photos of me with swords and archery equipment, which was super convenient, it turns out.

Yeah. Because as a freelance artist I largely did all my work online with people, I felt suddenly disappearing from the internet and never getting to post anything would be bad :b And they seemed pretty happy to let me share them - it's a really small company, so I'm sure they appreciate the extra little bit of exposure ahead of time :)
*chuckles* Yes, but it's an all-wood composite long bow (albeit a small, woman-sized one :V). Casey has one as well: http://sta.sh/01acwh86sa42 except it's a recurve, and draws for 65-70lbs o_o and we also have a simple wood compound bow, which are kind of rare.
Hahaha, we also have a few fully practical swords (ie. swords you could actually use, as opposed to display stuff made of stainless steel). One is a viking sword ( http://jocarra.deviantart.com/art/S.....word-102058274 ), and another is a rather expensive (<$1000), very very sharp katana :b We also have a number of lower quality swords, including an odachi, which is basically Sephiroth's masamune (it's about 6 feet long), but while it's full tang, the blade isn't made from quality sword metal and also isn't sharpened. However, in case of zombie apocalypse, I'm sure it would do an excellent job spearing oncoming zombies! (Then again, so would a pointed stick >_> haha)
That about does it for weapon nerdery, although tangentally related, perhaps, we do have a full bamboo staff that is also a playable flute :V

Thank you very much! That's saying quite a bit, considering centaurs are a pretty standard fantasy creature :b
I imagine at least some of them are! This is a multi-race fantasy world after all - I know most regular people balk at the idea of interspecies relations in the real world, but if there were actually elves and dwarves and things around? For sure there'd be at least a few hybrid children running around out there ;)

Heh, yeah. Like, me and most of my friends grew up on things like fantasy and sci-fi, so interracial relations are pretty standard, if not expected, so it's pretty xenophobic-seeming to me when people are like, "OMG you can have relations with ALIENS in that Mass Effect game???"
Really, the point to take away I think is that it really just depends on the individual, for the most part ;) Even if, hypothetically, the centaur race is xenophobic and hates other races for, I don't know, being slow or puny or only having half a proper body or always screwing with their forests, there will always be exceptions to the rule!
