Working on some reference sheets, first up is Tink. I've mentioned often that Tink and other Crystolians are completely wacky in their proportions, to the point that most of them involve Impossible Geometry and I wouldn't be able to accurately sculpt them if I tried.
That said, I'm trying to fix that a little. On the right, in green, is Tink how she normally appears. Twig thin, no apparent weight or heft, overly large feet.
On the left, is what I'm considering changing her to. Much more 'realistic' proportions, wider hips, breasts that reflect their size better, narrower shoulders; ultimately, more feminine, despite her previous Barbie-like measurements.
I don't expect to get any input on it, but I thought I'd put it out anyway. Do people prefer more realistic proportions, or her truly lanky self?
Note: also preview of new hairstyle, a bob cut, way different than her normal hair but I really like it

Love the bob-cut hair, definitely feels like it'd suit her far more.
I think for me, in the way that I tend to enjoy character proportions and designs...I tend to sway more towards realism but with at least a slight touch of fantasy to it. I'm not above saying that a few things can be changed or altered...but I also agree that a good bit of realism does help one develop as an artist. After all, without proper anatomy studies, one cannot fathom the body and its many myriad shapes properly.
I do like how the new proportions look for Tink, especially on the fact that this shows how she's changing and which bits in particular actually work out for her. I'd say you can keep the lankiness in, it just would need to be altered a little to work with the better-designed proportions.
