I'm a huge fan of the show in general, and the ending seriously made me cry. ;_;
Aaaand then The Rebellion Story happened, with no continuation in sight at the moment. :/
Personally, I can't wait for the fan-translation of PMMM Portable to be completed.
Also, thanks for the fave! :D

I like PMMM. .w. It was surprisingly good. Not overwhelmingly good, but still enough to impress me a little. :3! And the outfits were adorable. Kyubey was, too!
The ending did NOT make me cry. I feel like I might have almost cried at some point, but maybe not. There weren't very many parts that I found super sad or surprising. I guess parts of the ending were sad. But the very ending was mostly just satisfying to me. I felt that it was pretty well-explained. The way I see it, the way they demonstrated her actually going and rescuing everyone didn't literally happen after the first bunch of times and she stopped existing as a person and became a law of the universe like QB said she would. And that changed everything. Mankind wasn't better off, but Magical Girls were a fair bit better off. :3

Kyubey's definitely a character I love to hate. X3 Mami's outfit was my personal favorite.
I love the ending, myself, and I pretty much only cried because I was that touched by it; I didn't really find it sad either.
Have you seen The Rebellion Story, though? Without giving away too much, it basically changes everything.

That being said, it shows Mami being even more of a badass than she was in her brief time on the show, and Sayaka is not only alive, but also emotionally stable enough to be the heroine she always wanted to be. Also, Charlotte is back as a cute sidekick for Mami.
Of course, the trade-off for THAT is that the movie gets really fucking dark as it goes on.

I don't literally HATE hate him, I mean "love to hate" like this: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.p.....ain/LoveToHate
Pretty much any "I don't get it!" line from him is good.
"I don't get it, why are you so fussy about where your soul is kept?" To be honest, Kyubey has a point with regards to it being more convenient for battle; I'd be more upset about the fact that I wasn't told about it beforehand. Which is of course what the cute little bastard wants. :P
Actually, the new system brought about by Madoka is an interesting tradeoff, in that it's much more humane— the girls are told about the nature of their gems, and that they'll die if they let it get too black, and Witches are replaced with monsters that presumably just attack people directly without a putting up a barrier or "kissing" them— yet it's also less efficient, meaning that Entropy is much harder to combat.
Also, I'd say humanity actually is better off, since Walpurgis Night and uber-powerful Witches like Kreimhild Gretchen don't exist. Whether the Majuu can cause "natural" disasters isn't stated, though I imagine they'd be less severe.

Well yes he doesn't tell them beforehand about the soul thing (which IS my favourite line I think), and at the end of the show...I'm pretty sure he still doesn't tell anyone about the soul thing. O: A lot of them probably still don't grasp the risks up front, taken with the opportunity for a wish. I imagine Mami didn't. Didn't have time, right? Also I don't think the monsters "attack people directly" so much as sew seeds of despair similar to what the witches did. The effect being so similar that mankind would never know the difference; they wanted to make the change so that it only affected magical girls.
Regarding Kyubey's mission to combat entropy, either he'll take much longer to reach his quota, or it will now be a cycle that is dragged out forever. u3u If you view the Magical Girl thing as tragic, then it's a shame Madoka didn't just end it instead of rewriting the universe as we knew it and creating a fresh timeline. Although it's possible to think mankind will be better off with girls combatting the wraiths and making wishes thst could drive mankind further as a race! :3 So maybe it's for the best overall?
In high concentrations I am certain the wraiths can do just about anything a witch can and are just as dangerous. If that weren't the case, there would be tons of presumably immortal magical girls running around. :3

Actually, Gen Urobuchi did mention that Kyubey would likely tell the girls about the fact that they'll die if their soul gem gets used up, but added that Kyubey would word it carefully, which I interpret as meaning that he'd only disclose it on a need-to-know basis. Of course there's Mami's case, but she could've been told about it afterward.
Kyubey was never out to "cure" entropy, so even with the old system it was an eternal cycle, it's just harder for him now.
Yeah, the wraiths likely would be extremely dangerous, but, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember them putting up barriers like the witches did.
In Madoka Portable, Mami's backstory is elaborated on further, and she actually failed to save a kid from a witch, and because of the barrier, the body was never found. Assuming that wraiths don't have them, it'd mean that things like this incident wouldn't have happened. So there's that, if I'm not mistaken.
That being said, it's cool having someone with whom to discuss this. :3

Oh Kyubey was pretty clear about the fact that you were supposed to keep your soul gem charged. He never fully on the consequences, but I'm sure he would offer the information more readily now that it doesn't involve becoming the very thing they've been hunting.
Realistically, the impression I think we are supposed to get from Kyubey is that he has had a lot of practice in his job of recruiting magical girls, and has learned what information to withold and whay information to give in order to maximize his recruitment rate of eligible girls. :3 After all, he very clearly doesn't have a good understanding of human emotions. He remarked upon how everyone always got upset when they found out their soul gem was their actual soul and their bodies were replaced, but it still confused him WHY they reacted that way. In other words, at first he probably had no idea what not to say, because he had no grasp on how the girls would react to different information.
As for the entropy thing, it is quite possibly an eternal cycle, but Earth will only last so long, and the incubator race Kyubey belongs to surely only plan so far ahead. Kyubey mentioned filling a quota with Madoka, though. A couple of times, actually. I don't remember the wordings, though, so I'm not sure I can discuss it competently. I don't recall if the wording could have possibly meant his own personal quota (meaning he himself was done with his job as collector) or whether he meant the quota of his entire race. O:
Yes: there is no evidence that I know of that wraiths have labyrinths the way witches do. That may in fact decrease the number of "missing person" cases that result from these supernatural interferences. That's interesting, but not really a major difference I suppose. ^^'

I imagine the Earth would likely last long enough for humanity to get a relatively stable grip on space travel, so it's likely that the magical girl system would be in place for as long as humanity itself survives. I think what he means by "quota" is "the amount of energy we'll need in reserve before we can safely look for another planet with emotion-driven sentient beings".
I'd say it's a pretty major difference to that kid's mom, at least. :P
On an entirely unrelated note, are you familiar with Jean Cocteau's version of Beauty and the Beast ("La Belle et la Bête")? I recently saw it a couple of times, and it's definitely a film worth discussing; I'll probably have to draw Bête sometime, the way his design can look either frightening or downright goofy depending on the scene definitely appeals to me.

Never seen it.
And I meant it's a very minor difference to society, the feelings of the mothers of dead children notwithstanding. Either way they will be miserable, losing a child.
I don't know that I believe humanity has very large-scale space travel in its future. X3 Humanity will likely die out before Earth does. That's a completely different conversation though.

I first read about that movie while flipping through "1001 Films You Must See Before You Die". And, well, they were right!
I meant that the kid in question could've survived, since that specific witch wouldn't have been around to kill him, but I definitely agree that it'd be a minor difference to society either way.
I'm guessing that you believe humanity would destroy itself before then? I can't say I entirely disagree. :/
