This is one of my characters fromw when I was involved in the Dallas Brawl Zapazine. Alexander Leoni is the grandfather of Alex. Leoni II. He is a Greek national, who is, believe it or not, actually a Professor of English in Athens, Greece, before the Italian Invasion of Greece in October, 1940. He wold serve in the Greek Army until he is wounded during the fighting inside Italian-occupied Albania in early 1941. He would be among those evacuated from the Athenian port of Pireaus after the German Invasion of Greece of April, 1941. Discharged from the reorganized Greek Army in Egypt, he moved to the US, staying with cousins who were living in LA, and working at their restaurant, where he would hear about the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. He would volunteer to join the US Army along with his male cousins, eventually joining the Parachute Infantry and eventually being assigned to the 101st Airborne Division.
As for the scene here, it is several hours after the landing in Normandy. Alex is presently resting against a hedgerow, drinking some water from his canteen, after being unable to find anyone else from his stick. He suddenly start hearing several clicks that are coming from behind him. The question now is: Are they being made by other paras, or is it being caused by something else. (Anyone who'd either read the book or seen the film, 'The Longest Day', should know what that something else is.) By the way, it's suppose to be a night scene. Scott just didn't have the experience at the time to make a convincing looking night scene.

E-yup, the blasted clicks.
Well,he had help. At the time I'd had a book on U.S. Army Uniforms of World War II, a book on U.S. Weapons of WWII and a book on Uniforms of all the Armies that fought in WW II. Sadly, I don't have the book since I'd got rid of them, plus another book on the U.S. Army Order of Battle of World War II, one on British Uniforms of World War II and a big book on the histoty of the British 7th Armored Division, with the last one I'd had since high school (Yes, the book was that old.). And I keep kicking myself every day for getting rid of them.
