Before I begin, I was tempted to draw this after I saw MetalExveemon's pic of a speedo-clad Blitz being restrained in a rather suggestive position by four of these guys. Anyway, I'm sure every that RR fan is familiar with these particular cano-mutants by now. Because as some of you out there may remember, these guys appeared at the beginning of episode 9; "Still A Few Bugs in The System", where our heroes went up against a trio of giant monstrous insects recruited by General Parvo. Namely, the flea, the tick, and the mange. Anyway, I was tempted to draw this because with the exception of MetalExveemon and myself, nobody has EVER bothered to draw these guys. Probably because they have only appeared in a single episode of the show. They were basically some of the lesser cano-mutants who served as mere canon fodder under Parvo's command. They came in large groups and they all shared the same designs as the two designs featured in this illustration. It's a pity though that these guys have had no more than one appearance in the entire series which was just at the factory in that one episode, loading barrels into a semi just before being jumped and easily taken out by the Road Rovers.
The one thing I found kind of weird about these particular cano-mutants was their fashion. Though the two designs differed somewhat, they shared some obvious similarities. The most obvious being that they didn't have much to wear except for tight-fitting spandex underwear. But both groups had their own individual attires with pretty much their own accessories. In addition to wearing colorful briefs, the bulldogs wore blue shoulder pads and boots, while the sarloos wolfhounds sported red vests. Much like how Fluffy and Spot both wore speedos even though they had mostly their own original outfits. In my point of view, the red vests that the wolfhounds wore were reminicent to the vests worn by numerous fictional wolves found in various Warner Bros, Disney, MGM, and anime cartoons. Unlike Fluffy and Spot however, who were both gigantic in size, these guys were pretty much normal size, standing roughly 6 feet in height and were not as strong. In fact, the real downside to these guys was that they were pretty wimpy and puny. In fact, they were undoubtedly the weakest enemies the Road Rovers have ever fought against as they had no stamina or fighting experience, and were woefully lacking in intelligence. Hell, these guys were so puny that even Blitz had little to no trouble handling them. They were that easy. Especially for Muzzle, who of course laid the smack down on them just as he did with pretty much every other enemy in the show.
And yet, for as wimpy and puny as these guys were, I have to admit I did think they were kind of cute looking. In fact, they were quite adorable for minor characters intended to be front-line soldiers. Well, maybe not as adorable as some other anthro characters I know of. But still, I thought they were quite cute however superficial their charm might have been. Plus their fashion was admirable although its not something you'd see on TV these days. One thing I've been thinking about for quite a while now, was what more these guys can be used for. And aside from the various fanfics that I have in mind, I was also thinking that they could be some of the on-screen enemies who players could fight against in the ideas I had for Road Rovers Arcade games. I've always pictured a side-scrolling beat 'em up arcade game based on the Road Rovers series. And I was thinking these guys would make great on-screen enemies since they travel in large groups like the foot soldiers from TMNT and the sentinels from X-Men. I also remember that a few years ago when I was in high-school, I had this weird dream that I was in a military complex of sorts where I ran into Exile, who was dressed in a similar attire to the sarloos wolfhound mutants in the red vests and speedos. I was kind of weirded out by that dream. But even so, I'm thinking of fleshing out a few images from that one scene I remember from the dream. And now that the summer is here, hopefully I'll have all the time I need to touch upon that. Anyway, I hope you RR fans will enjoy this.
