This.
When the maker is the one making such a huge mistake, by no means should the commissioner be punished for it. The commissioner deserves it to be fixed without asking. The antler placement is ridiculous. I am willing to bet that none of the references provided for this head had the antlers like this, either. If I were them I'd be livid and then some.
That being said, how does anybody not see that the antlers are literally misplaced until it's THIS far into it. Seriously a crying shame.

you can see in this (NSFW) image that the antlers are supposed to be facing the other way: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11403686/
like, has the maker ever even seen antlers ever

ehh looking at here ref http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9302502/ im pretty sure they dont face that way you linked, also i know she sends alot of WIP'S from start to finish. aaaand looking at how they are compared to up and out antlers , these look like they'd be easier to pack, walk through doors, don't seem to block vision either, and hell i don't think they look out of place or bad, actually pretty unique lookin if i do say so myself.
If the customer is okay with it this way that's one thing, if they're not, then it doesn't matter if the maker thinks this will be better (either for maneuverability, packing, vision etc.)- it's not what they asked for.
But again we're assuming the customer hasn't seen the antler placement, for all we know they did and are fine with it. :)

How about, if anyone thinks the antlers are wrong, instead of hating and whining about it you just note the artist saying what you think may help? Constructive criticism guys, please try it.
That being said I love the flash of purple in the colour scheme here, and I've always loved the way you make the ears nicely rounded and realistic :)

They pretty much admitted that they realized their error but didn't want to fix it. Whether or not my comment was a crit is moot, because they knew it was wrong yet chose not to fix the error because they didn't feel like starting over. If I'm paying someone for a service, and they make a huge error such as this, if they have to start over, so be it. They can take the old project, turn it into something else, and sell or auction it.
Of course, if the customer is okay with the placement, then all's fair. But I still would not come to this person for a commission if they admitted to not fixing their own errors. And I, personally, would have been seriously angry if something like this were to happen to me.

Ok so you admitted 'if the customer likes it then its all fair' but yet proceeded to hate on the fact that 'she wont fix it, its bad etc.' before any of us even know if the customer approved or not? It just seems rude and terribly harsh to do that.
The customer has probably (knowing draconic) been sent multiple photos and progress shots, I know that if it came down to it and things needed to be changed as per a customers request, draconic probably would do that.

Point taken. I'm sure she did all of those things, considering that the piece was finished as-is. However, my issue isn't with the piece itself anymore. It still stands with the fact that the maker, not the commissioner, noted the awkward angle of the antlers, and didn't do anything about it because "there was no way to alter it without starting from scratch." She didn't state that "the commissioner was okay with the placement," which would have solved the whole issue. That, to me, speaks volumes on a possible customer's standpoint; if she made an error that far down in a commission and I asked her to go back and fix something, would I be able to say with all confidence that she would? It was probably a poor choice of words on her part, and caused me to say what I did.
But lets say, the customer approves and keeps approving all wip's and gets to this point, yes indeed you'd have to rip most of it apart. And doing that after the customer has said yep thats ok? Not good for business, you'll be burning through profit and into the red.
Now lets say the customer goes, 'actually, its really important if you tilt those up' It'd be a toss up between, is it the customer or is it the costume maker's problem? On one hand if the customer saw progress or has told the fursuit maker how she/he would like them and has ok'd the wip's and but NOT the end result then its down to the customer going back on what theyve said. But if its the costume maker just going through and finishing without showing her customer then its on the maker to fix it out of pocket.
I just dislike the big block of insta-hate and rudeness that occurred, the words that were said by the maker were said, no one had to post such negative things in retaliation, a private PM would have done it nicely.

I misspoke, my opinions on the antler placement were simply personal preference and do not reflect the wishes of my client. I've executed my client's instructions, the customer approved the wip's, and they are satisfied with my services. Their opinions are the only ones that matter in this instance.
I think an easy way to "fix" them (if the customer desires it) would be to just cut off the bottom tine of the antlers (the one hanging furthest down, sand the cut smooth, and paint over that spot. Then they wouldn't look as if they're angled too far down (compared to the char ref). It's a really well-done head, though, I think! :)
