Ethan, perhaps you need to try food TF and see what comes of it. If all you can eat are french fires and cherries, then what happens if Penny somehow aquires the ability to turn people into sentient and aware french fries and chocolate chips. Or would the food having a face and talking to you make it intellectually inedible despite the chemical composition?
