Since hubby and I are having suits made of our two bird chars, I wanted to make badges for them. He's had an osprey char ever since I met him: http://swandog.deviantart.com/art/S.....d-Sayh-6391685 and it was named "Sayh", but then Panduck took over that name, so he decided to rename his osprey to "Lett" (which means simple, easy or lightweight in Norwegian, and he *is* just a simple osprey, albeit a very silly one). :) When he saw the necklace I put on my badge, he wanted a necklace too, so I gave him a fish head (he loves trout). :D His badge (and name) is decorated with lakeside rushes, and shaped like an osprey's egg. :)
"Rime", on the other wing, is my new wandering (aka snowy) albatross char, whose name means "hoarfrost" in English and Norwegian, and also "rhyme" in Norwegian, and alludes to the "Rime of the Ancient Mariner" poem. I've loved albatrosses for as long as I've loved swans (even wrote a poem about them, years ago: http://swandog.deviantart.com/art/T.....atross-6535814 and have an albatross ring that I got from my grandmother back in the 90's and have never taken it off), so I felt it was about time I actually made a char of one. :) Rime loves and collects seashells, and has a scallop shell and pearl necklace on a velvet ribbon. Her markings and coloration are those of a male, because I didn't realize when I created her that only males have the peach neck patch, and overall whiter plumage. But peach is my fave color, and besides, she's a tomboy, so I kept it. :D Her badge (and name) is decorated with seaweed, and shaped like an albatross' egg. :) Both badges are shown actual size.
Anyway, I want to do more "eggburd badges" like these, since they were so fun to do, and *may* even take a few commissions for them (we'll see), but only of bird chars. (Feel free to note me if interested, though!) :)

Oh wow, this set is beautiful! You two have the best taste in birds, I swear (also, an albatross character now? Wicked. Seabirds are too awesome). I really want one of these from you (or two, one for myself and the other half), and depending I might be able to manage such. Medical bills make finances hard to estimate though, unfortunately.
Your lines and gorgeous stylized adornments in your art continue to impress. You guys look perfect together, as always.

Aww, thanks, hon! <3 I've always loved seabirds...they sum up everything I love about the sea...the freedom, the vast open horizon, the salty seabreeze, the crash of the waves, the lonely cries of the gulls, the white sails of the ships, seashells, colorful pebbles, driftwood and sandy beaches, the wonderful fresh fish markets, all of it just fills me with an intense longing that I can't even begin to explain...it just feels like "home". There's a reason I love most all the songs about sailing and the sea (like Calypso, Southern Cross, Cool Change, etc.), and books like the "The Dawn Treader" (which of course had an albatross! I would actually love to have the phrase he spoke tattooed on me). But anyway, I digress... XD I'll note you regarding prices, and thanks again for the compliment! <3
Oh man, everything you're saying makes me want to go take another trip to Alaska. I get the most potent dream imagery with seascapes and expanses of water. Going to Anchorage and visiting Homer was one of the most amazing things I've been able to experience, and the memories of going to Monterey Bay and San Francisco are some of my favorites. The sea and the mountains are definitely my preference as far as scenery goes. The Dawn Treader was actually my favorite book out of that series.
I'm getting way off track, haha. But the point is these are gorgeous, and since the other half declaredgetting me one for Christmas, consider yourself commissioned.

Oooh, then you must come to see the Norwegian Fjords someday! :D I've never been to Alaska, but I have such wonderful memories of my childhood trip down Pacific Coast Hwy 101, from Seattle to San Fran; wonderful beaches, gorgeous redwoods and amazing rock formations all the way! I yearn so much to go back and take that trip again...I felt so much at home there. <333 (And the Dawn Treader was my fave from that series as well, and I was rather upset at how they butchered the movie adaption of it.) Anyways, thanks so much, dear! *hugs* <3
Planning on it, someday. Norway, Iceland and the Shetland Isles are near the top of my "Must Visit" places. If you ever do visit Alaska, Anchorage in the summer is beautiful; Cook's Inlet on one side and the Chugach Mountains on the other. I've been to Redwood National Park so I know exactly what you mean. That entire region has scenery so inspiring it's unreal. I actually forgot they made a movie of that book. Narnia had such rich imagery for me as a kid I've never had a desire to watch the movies I suppose.
You are entirely welcome. <3

One day when I get to designing my "birdsona" I'd totally throw all my money at you for a badge like this!
I've always loved Magpies, so I'm considering getting one of those with very natural markings, so it'd be the most natural looking character in my pool of sparkle-creatures, haha.
