In the year 330 AF, the death of the Emperor of Unai brought about a succession crises, as he had not designated an heir from his five children. Because of this, a civil war came into being, with the male heirs fighting each other with the aid of their own private armies, and whatever guilds of adventures and rescuers they could get on their sides. The sole female heir, Princess Rosa, had little to no allies and was seen as just a footnote to her more powerful brothers. Then something unexpected happened.
There had been of late a team of explorers who had been gaining notoriety for going into areas of the land that had been deemed too dangerous for all but the highest ranked guilds, and also for the wide divide in who they were socially. They came to the Princess Rosa at her darkest hour, pledged their loyalty to her, and began to turn the tides of battle in her favor. With the passing of time they made the princess the undisputed Empress, reuniting all the splintered territories under her banner. For this they were given the title of the "Six Saviors", the champions of the newly reunited realm.
Their members are, from left to right:
Countess Tanya deLusian, "L'illusione Regina". The heiress of the deLusian family and its estates, her family reigns over the marchlands to the east of main territories, though she alone runs it as her family is living it up in the capital. She was the first to join the team proper, having come across a young Riolu named Beldryn and a Charmander named Faust when she had been walking the high streets of the Capital as a Zorua. Her family prooved to be a constant source of grief for the team as a whole until the Civil War, when their opinions were changed upon hearing the reports of what their daughter and her "band of vagabonds" had been up to. An expert at close combat, she takes full advantage of her kind's ability to create powerful illusions to help her allies. She and Beldryn have a history between them, and both enjoy each other's company greatly.
Sir Byron, "Rosa's Paladin." The son of a knight and a lady of the Peerage, he was due to join the millitary when he was just a Raltz, and bring honor to his newly enobled family. Not wanting that he decided it would be a good idea to run from home, and had to be rescued from the nearby marshes by the trio of Beldryn, Tanya, and Faust. After returning to his family and learning of his parent's displeasure of his actions, and that they wouldn't let him join the pokemon he had deemed his personal idols, he fled once more and lied to his rescuers that he had been given his family's blessings to go explore with them. He and his father would later cross swords during the civil war, as the old knight had joined with the most powerful of the Princes. Byron is capable of using both the Leaf Blade and the Psycho Cut, techniques that both require a great deal of dedication and practice, as well as invoking the Lucky Chant, which marks him as a Paladin according to Unai tradition.
Abbot Mewtwo, "The Sage of the Tranquil Mountain." His origins are a mystery that, supposedly, not even his teammates know. He also joined the team when he was little, having been found by Beldryn while the Riolu was on a solo mission somewhere. Mewtwo has been confirmed by battlefield accounts as one of the most powerful and deadly Psychic types in the Empire, if not the world as a whole baring the Legends. Stories of him tearing the very land asunder, bringing down heaven's wrath, and other acts generally attributed to the gods themselves. He was greatly aloof, keeping company only with Six Saviors. He has also been confirmed as a user of the mysterious Aura, and trained in its use in the far eastern lands alongside Beldryn. In present day he keeps to his monastery on the Tranquil Mountain, which lies in the eastern marches of the Empire. As the abbot, he takes in a select few students to train in his fighting style and usage of the mental force rarely coming down for anything.
Faust Yvetalson, "The Disciple of the Doombringer". A young Beldryn ran into him in the sewers of the Capital, and the two got into a scrap that ended with the charmander marking the riolu as "his own," by biting him and drinking a little of his blood. Beldryn responded by sucker punching him, and the two somehow became friends after that fight. Though the two searched high and low they could never find his parents, and it was during that search they met Tanya, who followed them relentlessly until they finally let, "the icky girl" in after she tricked a would be bully into running home by imitating his mother's voice. Of the six he and Beldryn shared a relationship only Abbot Mewtwo was privy to, one very personal on the physical and spiritual levels. He has the name Yvetalson for being made the Chosen of Yvetal upon his evolution to Charizard. As the Chosen he holds the loyalty of Yvetal's cult, which he made full use of during the Civil War as spies and assassins. After the War's end he vanished, and to this day Beldryn seeks him out when he can.
Viscount Guildmaster Sir Beldryn Xerneason, "Life's Own Chosen". Team leader and co-founder of the Guild of Hope. He was the one who pulled the band together originally, and led them through the civil war. After the war had been won, he was made a knight of the realm, and in later years a Viscount in service to Tanya, to help her watch over the Eastern Marches. His past he keeps quiet, mainly to give the Imperial Court something to entertain themselves with. He is well studied in the use of Aura in battle, combining it with a talent in bladwork to add devastating effect. Being the Chosen of Xerneas also grants him some perks, but he's been content to let what they are fade into memory, as he has no need for them in this time of peace...
Blade, "The Shining Berserker". A member of a roving band of thieves since she could remember, she mainly served to keep them entertained and soften up any potential targets. When Beldryn and his small team encountered said band, he convinced her to set them free and join them by beating her in single combat. Ever since she has been loyal without question to the Lucario, to the point where questioning it is one of the highest insults you can make towards her. She is always the first into battle, and the last out, being able to take a great deal of damage and dealing twice as much back. She even goes so far as to wear the most gaudily colored clothing to make sure she gets as much attention as possible
