What is most interesting about this little piece, is the liveliness of the pose conveyed in such a tiny format. Others have already noticed the abundance of detail. I guess what appeals to me the most in this aspect is the structure of wings, and highly detailed fingers and claws on them.

As for the eyes, I would say the triangle highlight in them stands out a bit much as compared to the overall subtly shaded picture, but if it was intended as an icon, I guess I can understand the need for it.
