I gotta ask, what does the pad of a bear feel like? Is it smooth or like leather?

Well... The surface of the paw is like leather but as soon as started to press against paw it felt so damn soft.
I can compare it to pillows of silicone. So... To be honest... God damn hot for me. And hind paws were little bit softer than fore paw.

That makes sense. Most of the weight would be in the upper body so the fore paws would be tougher. If Bear anatomy is anything like Dogs.

Actually no... The most of the weight is in hind part of the body. The reason why hind paws are softer is that bear hind paws are much larger than fore paws. And compareing to dogs. Dogs dont have soles and dogs paws are very much harder.
