Count Selene can use many different supernatural abilities. She has superhuman strength which, is equivalent to that of 100 strong men. She is immune to conventional means of attack. The Countess does not have to seek victims regularly, and has the ability to remain inactive for centuries. The Countess can defy gravity to a certain extent, and possesses superhuman agility; being able to climb upside down vertical surfaces in a reptilian manner. She has powerful hypnotic and telepathic abilities, and is also able to command nocturnal animals such as bats and rats. Selene can also manipulate the weather, usually creating mists to hide her presence, but also storms. She can travel onto "unhallowed" ground such as the graves of suicides and those of her victims. She can shape-shift at will, her featured forms being that of a bat, a wolf, and a large dog. She is able to pass through tiny cracks or crevices while retaining her human form, described as the ability to become "so small". She also has the ability to vanish and reappear somewhere else. She requires no other sustenance but fresh blood, which has the effect of rejuvenating her.
Selen's powers are not unlimited, however. She is much less powerful in daylight and is only able to shift her form at dawn, noon, and dusk (she can shift freely at night). The sun is not fatal to her, though, sunlight does burn her upon long amount of exposures to it.
She is repulsed by silver because of the 30 silver pieces that Judas received for betraying Jesus. (Silver is a blessed metal because Jesus Christ was betrayed for 30 pieces of silver. Anything holy or blessed will destroy evil, according to the legend). Vampires can be driven away with the Cross and other holy symbols, and can even be injured by them (as with Holy Water). Partly true. If the person wielding the holy symbol has real faith in his religion, this will work on about 90% of vampires. Very old vampires tend to develop an immunity to this. This aversion to faith extends even to prayer, and sanctified holy grounds. Incidentally, this aversion appears to be purely psychological. There are a few vampires who retain (for one reason or another) their religion after being turned, and aren't affected. Others simply refuse to believe that they will be, and thus aren't. She is also unable to enter a place unless invited to do so; once invited, however, she can approach and leave the premises at will.
While universally feared by the local people of Transylvania and even beyond, she somehow commands the loyalty of gypsies and a band of Slovaks who transport her boxes on their way to London and to serve as an armed convoy bringing her coffin back to the Castle. The Slovaks and gypsies appear to know her true nature.
Countess Selene is depicted as the "Queen Vampire", and can control other vampires who were her own victims but also, those in farther away lands such as Syria who may or may not have been Dracula's victims. Her death can release the curse on any living victim of eventual transformation into vampire.
She also requires Transylvanian soil to be nearby to her in order to successfully rest; otherwise, she will not be able to recover her strength.
This is her General Every day Outfit. (Her wings can be hidden upon will, though she tends to have them out most of the time).
