I found an old drawing of him so I thought, 'Why not make a reference sheet?'
Cecil's my oldest character. I came up with him around 2008; a while before I discovered the fandom. He's supposed to be a 'marker penguin', a fictional species that can recreate sounds better than parrots.
He's also the protagonist of a book I want to write someday. In it, people get turned into part-animals because of a viral outbreak that ends the world. Those who change turn into savage red-eyed beasts bent on killing.
However, a small number of survivors have managed to keep their human minds, and they have to fend for themselves in the ruins of civilization after the uninfected humans barricade themselves in fortified colonies run by iDen, and leave them for dead.
Like everyone around him, Cecil tries his best to carry on in what's left of San Francisco but things are bleak. Every day, they lose more of their people either through death or bites, causing them to turn into one of the red-eyes actively roaming the parts of the city that haven't been reclaimed.
But even with all of that, there seems to be more to the story when a supply runner stumbles across a loft belonging to one of iDen's senior researchers. It's a revelation that will change the lives of everyone and test Cecil in ways that will near break him.
I don't know if I'll ever get to finishing it but it's something that I want to do in the near future. I've put too much thought into it. I just can't let it die.
