Lion King Scar Marquette #143 of 500. Rare as HELL. And was hard to get.
He is the pride and joy of my Lion King collection so far. Well... the only thing in my collection so far. The other thing I had bought... all the pieces came shattered cuz the chic shoved em in a box with just shopping bags. What I get for buying used without original boxes. Got refunded for them though. Kept the remains to play/try to fix. In process of discussing with another seller for a NIB one.
However, even though he is by himself right now he does look nice in my big cat collection with a Shere Khan and Ajani Goldmane Funko Pops on either side of him. Just till I get more Lion King stuff and then they get their own bookshelf. He gets the top of the nice one for now so the cat can't get to him. This pic is just the shorter one so I could take a picture.

Yeah that does make it a problem to see what number. lol
When I get my own place I'm going to get him a glass case so he uber protected. Untop of the tall bookshelf will do for now. He even came with cloth gloves for me told hold him with. XD They spared no expense packing him either. Swear it was like a test or something. Came in a box big enough for ME to fit in. Sea of packing peanuts. ANOTHER big box encased in giant bubble wrap. The box was also cocooned in packing tape. then inside was that expanding spray foam. dead center was him. HOLY CRAP they did not want him to break. XD Going to put the second box in my storage unit. Never know when his Custom fitted foam and box will be needed. XP

Oh NICE! mine isn't the original box or foam.... but it seems to work pretty good. He did come with a letter of Authenticity. Has a cute lil picture of Scar on it. maybe I can find a frame for it...
Indeed. For really nice things I try to keep all the boxes for them. Which pisses me off whenever a relative comes by and throws them away. Doesn't ask. Just starts snooping when I am out of the room or at work. But now that I am at my grandfather's house almost everything is in storage. And he makes sure no one goes in my room when I am not here. He's the only one who firmly believes you don't go in someone's room without permission. And you definitely don't touch someone else's stuff.

its like... SURPRISE! Lol CoA.
And yus... sadly. No touchie! Specially the ones who call my stuff junk. You touchie EVAH!!! Know a bunch of stuff in my room will be put safely in my storage unit if I get word my cousins are coming... *shivers* yeah... I used to have Sonic the hedgehog comics... cousins pretty much ruined them so that hobby stopped. Freakin box Scar came in is big enough to fit my beanbag chair in though... how to get to storage unit. Square box in a round car problem cuz I drive a little blue Voltswagon Beetle. XP

Haha, I have a Red Beetle myself. XD I've manage to fit all kinds of things in it that I thought would never fit. :B Put that back seat down, remove the headrests and you can fit just about anything that will fit through the back hatch. :B I managed to fit a ton of my closetmaid shelving in my car to take to storage. Longest piece I think is 7-8 feet. :B https://www.dropbox.com/s/xsk2lhivs.....large.jpg?dl=0
Lol Yeah did that with a lot of my stuff too. I just pushed the front passenger seat down and forward instead of removing the headrests. Biggest things were a 6-7 ft bookshelf then a 6ft wide Leopard print rug that was so thick I can't bend it at all. XP
I've done road trips in it across state with 3 people and 2-3 weeks worth of luggage as well.... somehow I am always the one in the backseat of MY car though. XP

I'm the most envious of this piece. I see one of these turn up on eBay every once in a blue moon, and I always think very seriously about buying it. I collected Lion King stuff for about 15 years (I had so much shit). Then, about 5 yrs ago I sold off the lion's share (lame pun :-P) of it. It's not that I outgrew The Lion King, but I think I just outgrew collecting things. I saved only a couple of the most rare and valuable pieces from my collection (all Scar items). Never had the maquette, though.
Why thank you! Yep. I have to say Scar is the crown jewel of my collection. Hands down. I recently purchased the Cub Simba one to go with him as well. Simba #3/500. NICE! So now the next goal of my collection is the Mufasa Maquette. I never collected anything till now actually. Everything I had wanted to my parents would never buy me. They bought my sister tons of Sailor Moon stuff she collected. But they would just buy me random stuff whether I actually liked it or not. Ah well. I'm an adult now. TIME TO FINALLY LIVE! Lol. Yeah Scar is my favorite so trying to find pieces of him mostly. But adding lil cheap finds of the others when I see em. I mostly just want Scar. But the rest are now mostly because I CAN and no one can stop me! Also adding whatever Shere Khan and Bagheera things I can find too. But only good stuff. There is alot of plushies out there that look NOTHING like them. Even though they are Disney plushes. Bleh. Saw one Shere Khan I could not stop laughing at. I swear he looked like he was on crack.
I can relate. I was where you are about 20yrs ago. I just got out on my own, and I collected so much crap. Some of it was really nice, and some of it was really crap. Lol! And back then TLK was new, so there was new stuff coming out all the time.
Yeah from what I've seen, that is the crown jewel of your collection. WDCC figures are not in the same league as maquettes. Take care of this one. I'm speaking with the voice of experience here; 15-20 yrs from now when you get tired of your Disney collection and sell off the lion's share on eBay, this will likely be one of the few pieces you will hang on to.
I wish I had something with Shere Khan too. He's my second fav Disney char after Scar. I've never found anything I thought was really cool for less than $1k though, which I can't afford.
If you're interested, here's a link to the glorious remains of my once vast TLK collection. Only these four items left. Everything else is gone now. It's okay, though. I don't really want any of it back. And these pieces will probably be with me for life. http://fwagner.rubberslug.com/galle.....SeriesID=46030

Oh nice. I've seen another Deja Andreas one of Scar on Ebay. Personally drooling over a Character sheet from the first movie of Scar on there too. But I want the Maquette more. So will get it if no one buys after I get Mufasa.
I don't have a lot of crap. I'm managing to be rather choosey on what I get. Cept the plushies. I see a deal I'm gettin it. But that was just to start so I am done with plushies for now until after the Jewels of the collection. But like I don't want any of the McDonalds toys or even the Musical stuff. I mean I like the musical... but I like the Movie more. And thats what I am collecting. There are some silly things I want though. But I have a time span I will do it at. One of the silliest has to be the Simba light switches. XD I want them so BAD. But I will not get any until I get my own house. I see no point in having them until I legit have my own place.
Shere Khan stuff is even harder to find than Scar is. The plushies are mostly crap or so old the stripes have faded off them. The only really good ones you find internationally. But they want like $20-30 to ship a $15 plush. YEESH! So... rather limited. Atleast I have my WDCC and the Lithograph from the debut event. Need to get a frame for it. Think a bronze one like my Transformers autographs are in.
I only really like autographs if I am the one who got them to sign the thing. But then some you have to settle for a prewritten one cuz either the actor is hard to get a hold of or is no longer alive. Both Shere Khan actors are gone. So have to get one after the fact for him. Jeremy Irons is not too hard to find. He does alot of environmental stuff. So he doesn't mind signing stuff when he is at a water conservation seminar or something. I have several transformers that are signed. But I only bought transformers I liked. So my collection is just G1 Soundwave, Animated Lockdown, and Transformers Prime figures. Short list. I do have a poster I am trying to get the whole cast of Prime to sign... I've gotten two but I still need several of them... just haven't been able to go to any cons lately. I hate going anywhere by myself and have had no one to go with me.
There is this Cel of Shere Khan on ebay right now... omg WANT SOOO BAD. But I don't have $3 grand to drop on that. Noooope. I'd rather have the Maquettes. Wonder if there is a Shere Khan one... hmmm....

I saw that Scar Char sheet on eBay. That is pretty sweet! There is a Scar maquette on eBay right now that I've been eying too. I don't know... probably won't get it though. I guess, I figure I've already got a pretty good Scar picture collection, so I really don't need any more pics of him. And as for the maquettes/figurines, if they sit on a shelf/table, I'll find a way to break them. If I ever do get one though, it will be a Scar maquette like yours. Even all my pics are framed using plexiglass instead of glass (so they won't break), and are hung very high on the walls. Lol!
I'm sure there were maquettes for Shere Khan, but back when they made The Jungle Book, they didn't make extras to sell. Merchandising in the 1960s was nothing like it was in the 1990s. There were probably only about 25 Khan maquettes made, and only the artists working on the film would've been given them. Because of that, if one ever came up for sale on eBay, it likely would've come from the estate of an old Disney artist, and it would probably sell for thousands of dollars. I've never seen any aesthetically pleasing production drawings/cels of Khan in good condition come up for sale for less than $1k, and George Sanders wouldn't autograph pics of Khan because he didn't take the role seriously, and he died just a couple of yrs after the film was made. So, original Khan stuff is pretty hard to come by. I'm always on the look out, but to date have never found anything in my price range.
I USED to collect all kinds of stuff, but not much anymore. I've always loved Disney's animated films, and have never outgrown them. I would still collect more production drawings/cels if I had more money and wall space. I've never been much into Transformers. The only non-Disney thing I have is a production drawing of the Pink Panther from the opening/closing credits of the 1976 film The Pink Panther Strikes Again. When I was a kid, I LOVED those Blake Edwards Pink Panther films, with Peter Sellers. Sellers could make me laugh till I cried! Omg, I gotta go to bed, gotta work in the AM. G'night!
