... it's essentially a fat reptile.
I wanted to get some practice drawing some body shapes I'm not used to and some head angles I'm... also not used to. So thus, this... reptile thing was born. I'd imagine it being the size of an ox (or is it oxen?), with about the same sort of structure and role.
I also wanted a 'different' sort of coloring for it. A long time ago, an old friend and I used to pattern our dragons off of snake patterns. If you can guess what this is from, you get a cookie! A tasty, delicious cookie!

Interesting creature design I must say.
The hunched back and bulky body make it look powerful indeed like a beast of burden but the only thing that looks just a little odd is how thin the shin of the hind legs go. I would think that it should be a bit thicker and more solid looking to indicate strength and power.
The patterns are indeed a nice touch and overall, I like this alot
