I hate that double standard where it's "culturally more acceptable for a woman to appear somewhat masculine than for a man to appear feminine." I'm a femboy, identify as female, and I wear skirts and tights every day. I say honestly fuck society, if a woman can keep her hair short, wear tux and look like a man then damn it I can keep my hair long and wear my skirts and tights and look like a woman. I can pull it off too, click here to see what I mean (sfw pic don't worry). I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm just saying like....it's a free country I can identify how I please. Society will never define me, only I define me.
Well yes cultural norms definitely could be, and I'm certainly an outlier, but personally I think there may also be an insecurity issue in their masculinity to wear traditionally feminine clothing. Like, a guy might think it'll turn him gay or something. As for wearing pink, my boyfriend is very much the masculine type, and he's just fine to wear pink. He even had a cute pink case on his old phone. He's secure enough in his masculinity to do so. And I agree with the pink is for girls, blue is for boys thing is definitely a cultural phenomenon. I've heard some guys actually say pink is a girl color and it just makes me laugh internally.
And thank you for the complement :) For the most part I get pretty positive reactions, ladies complement my clothes and shoes a lot. Guys tend to hit on me thinking I'm really female. Sometimes that gets annoying especially when they get creepy, but hey that's why I carry a taser haha. Now, sometimes when a guy looks hard enough he realizes my secret and becomes a little uncomfortable cuz he's all WTF I just checked out a guy what's going on here??? Sometimes I want to say to them no, it doesn't mean your gay, you're still attracted to women, and you felt attracted to me because I look like a woman! Plain and simple. I've been made fun of only a few times and I just brush it off, it's not worth my time to engage someone like that. Tho it's another reason I carry a taser in case someone does try to get aggressive.
