Little faerie of the tree trunks
Dao’s post-molt photos!
Isn’t she a beauty? This mantis is such a pleasure to document. Her details are simply beyond words.
I’m so glad her molt went well. She’s a gorgeous, natural masterpiece!

Where do you come by your Mantis? We have owned/raised Mantis before but looking to work with some other species and not sure where is a good place to get them from healthy! I love your mantis photos! They are so incredibly photogenic but the way you light your photos make them works of art!
aaa your words are too kind, thank you!!
Thailand is home to an almost criminal number of different mantis genera (at least 14...and I can't even start to count the individual species there are here!), and so I go out into the jungle and look for them :D Around these parts, if you go out looking for a mantis, you're almost guaranteed to find one. And depending on where you concentrate your search (rocks, treetops, grasslands, plantations, etc), you're bound to find a completely different set of species. There are still a few genera I know exist here but I have not yet found. All in good time, though!
However, for captive bred species that you can have mailed safely to you, I absolutely reccomend checking the resources on Mantidforum! They have a for sale/wanted forum as well as a "breeder feedback" forum, in case you want to read up on other people's experience with certain senders. You may need to sign up before you can see the forums, but it's totally worth it if you're lookin' to purchase some lovely mantises <3! Exotic or native species, you're bound to find someone here who's reputable and has what you're looking for :D
I get a lot of folks asking me to send wild caught specimens for the sake of genetic diversity in their cultures--but I'm just not confident about sending live specimens internationally @ n@;; Otherwise, I'd totally love to contribute to the western insect trade!!
Anyhoo, I hope this is helpful! Good luck in your search!!

Oh gosh I did not realize you lived in Thailand!! I envy your backyard! (I saw the amazing photo of the incredible jumping spider specimen, another one of my loves!) I have visited Mantidforum but I am glad to hear it comes highly recommended for a place to purchase live mantis from. Thank you for the shares, both photos and information!
