So here is a collection of WIPs to show how I've worked on my latest submission to give a little insight in my techniques (do I really have them?).
Somehow I feel embarrassed to show those WIPs, but I do hope that some progress is visible in my work especially in my sketches. There's a huge step from the 6th to the 7th WIP as I worked for a whole night on it to finish it in time.
I'll soon put this into scraps.

Hmm, yes, I like seeing WIPs, too, it's just that I'm not sure anybody wants to see this of me, as I cannot consider myself an artist really. I fail in drawing way too much. But in general WIPs are wonderful, because one can always learn a tiny bit, I suppose, even if it is not much, it helps to improve often enough - sometimes it simply inspires one to do something new, encourages to playfully test techniques. :)
No, I used ArtRage 2.5 for it, since my PC can neither handle OC nor Painter X very well, either the programme will crash or I get a BSoD :/ - what I could recommend is Artweaver - it's freeware (http://www.artweaver.de/index.php?en_version) :), some other artists on FA use SAI, but since it's still of the same price like OC I wouldn't buy it, to be honest. I should really get a better motherboard with a more powerful CPU, I suppose. *sigh* and a new tablet, the scratches on this PENPartner from Wacom are too deep, so I have to keep a firm grip on the pen, which does not do my RSI very well. I really felt it while painting the fur in this picture.
I really want to use Painter X, the realistic watercolour paint brushes are sooo great. *do want* :D

The fur turned out nicely detailed regardless. :)
Thank you for the recommendations!!! I will certainly check out the freeware apps and maybe I can get my paws on Painter X and a good Wacom one of these days. I was told a 6x11 tablet is the perfect size..too bad they are so darn pricey! Have you heard much about the Bamboo line? http://www.wacom.com/bambootablet/compare.cfm Hmmm..they don't have tilt.. :/ Good price tho. *snugs*

I'll buy a Bamboo One asap. :) - my best friend has it, though she has the smaller size (my PENPartner is small, too), and it's great, in Germany you get ArtRage 2.5 along with the small Bamboo One for about 49 Euro. I think I'll get this one, and later, muuuuuuch later a medium-sized Intuos *hope*, depends if I'll ever get good enough for commissions ^.^ . But Wacom's great. :) I don't think I'll get a big tablet, they're way too expensive for me and I would not have enough space on my desk. I can work already fine with a small one, I suppose, so a medium size will do it.
Alright, I went overboard....I guess that's why there's credit. X3 <a href="https://www.digitalgraphicsresource.....quot;>Wacom 6x11</a>
Even this one is way too expensive for me ^^"" - I'll be glad to get a tiny bamboo, one day... if I was just good enough for commissions, you know, I could buy it someday soon.
So congratulation on your new tablet, I do believe you've been keen on getting such a nice one! :D Have fun! (and let us see new art ;) )
