A story for my friend
soul-silver-dragon!
A Yoshi hunts for a weapon to use against Bowser, but his trip turns for the worse when magic comes into play...
I hope you all enjoy, and i would love to hear what you all think of the story! ^_^
“You shouldn’t go there, Tosh! The castle is forbidden for a reason!” one of Tosh’s friends, another Yoshi begged him as he stared at the intimidating castle in the distance. Bowser kept plenty of castles around the mushroom kingdom to keep his presence throughout the world known, and currently the Koopa King was staying in the castle near their own village Tosh and his friend Moto had watched the king himself march into the castle with a small army of koopas, and a few magikoopas had flown around scouting out the area, likely for recruits to their army.
“Moto, if I go in there I could probably find a weapon to fight Bowser with,” he whispered, they’d seen a few guards wandering around and they didn’t want to get captured. The rumors of Bowser recruiting through magic were known everywhere, and they didn’t want to risk the rumors being true. “I’ll slip in, and see if I can find something, maybe even a magikoopa’s wand...”
The blue yoshi shook his head though as he followed behind Tosh a while longer, they were skirting the edge of the clearing that led to the castle. “Tosh... please don’t do this. The elders may have said yes, but I don’t think this is a good idea at all...” he whispered, his hands shaking as he gazed out to see a pair of shy guys being carried in by a Lakitu. “See, that can’t be a good sign,” Moto whined, but his friend was resistant to his pleading and he gasped as Tosh sprang out of the bushes and sprinted towards the moat. “Toooosh!” he yelled, but the yoshi was sprinting ahead of him and there was no way he could beat his friend without getting caught.
The yoshi looked at his friend sprinting away before running away from the bushes, not willing to get caught by some of the guards who had heard his shout. Tosh had already reached the moat though as the guards were circling around, he panted heavily as he swam towards one of the water openings. He had done some research before Bowser had come to reside in the castle, and had traced the waterways into the castle’s kitchens. Tosh had thought about staying while waiting for the Koopa king, but he had watched as the magikoopas had done a spell on the castle before letting the king walk in, and had watched as any hiding yoshis inside were dragged out before the king, and they were carried off by the lakitus.
Tosh had been hesitant at first in his idea, but the elders had pressed him when they had heard about his excursion into the castle. He wanted to defeat the evil king, but the fear of encountering Bowser was great... Even now as he swam through the waterways he gulped as he imagined bloopers swimming through the water... but he had to swallow down the panic as he was too far in to escape now. There were voices off in the distance, and Tosh made an effort to fade into the dark shadows of the cave, harder to do with his red skin that he had imagined, but he managed as he swam into the kitchen and saw two koopas talking. “The great king has assigned you for cooking duty today,” one of the koopas said, his voice in awe of mentioning Bowser.
“Euch... but I can’t cook...” the other koopa muttered, but with a sigh Tosh heard the hiss of gas as a burner was turned on. “If King Bowser says so though...” the koopa muttered, and after a few footsteps Tosh knew that it was just him and the koopa. Peeking out of the waterway he saw the koopa with his back to him, and he sighed as he pulled himself up, trying to sneak until he saw the koopa turn and they met eye to eye. “...What’re you doing?” the koopa asked, not moving as Tosh glanced around a few times with his mouth open.
“I... uh... am... cleaning the pipes... for King Bowser...” Tosh said, not sure if the koopa was going to buy it.
There were a few moment of silence as the koopa stared at him, and then he shrugged. “Alright, just make sure to use natural ingredients. The last time someone cleaned the pipes, they used this nasty mushroom mix and it made the water taste like Mario for a week...” he muttered, turning away to mess around with his food.
Tosh blinked a few times before nodding to himself, walking down the only hall that was connected to the kitchen. He met a few more koopas, and they all bought his excuse as much as the first koopa. “Bowser’s minions aren’t the smartest cookies...” he muttered, watching as they talked amongst themselves about either how great Bowser was, or how terrible Mario was. “This is pretty sad...” he sighed, and then bumped into something big... like Bowser’s hand big. “Oh no...” he hissed, looking up right into the Koopa King’s eyes.
Bowser’s eyebrow raised as he stared down the yoshi with an intimidating glare. “What is a yoshi doing here?” he growled, his deep voice sending shivers down his spine. Tosh couldn’t answer, and he swore he was going to be turned into ash, or taken away by a lakitu before a koopa wandered up.
“Oh, great King Bowser! This yoshi is one of your troops who is here to clean the pipes!” the koopa said, bowing before Bowser.
The king’s eyes traveled from the yoshi to the koopa, and then back. Tosh swore he was going to die from his gaze alone, but after a moment he nodded. “Just make sure to use organic substances, I hated the taste of mushrooms in the water after the last cleaner...” he grunted, turning away to talk to the magikoopa he’d been talking to before.
Tosh walked away with a wobbly step, shocked he had gotten away... and that the Koopa King himself had been fooled by such a weak excuse. Finding his way through Bowser’s castle proved a problem as there was no way he could find the throne room as he had been too afraid to go past the kitchen during his initial explorations, and now he was regretting it as he got glances from Bowser’s minions. Finally he bit his lip as he stopped a goomba who gave him a glare. “Excuse me... but the g... great King Bowser told me I had to go to his throne room to... to make sure the pipes in there are clean...”
The yoshi had heard from a few whispers of the minions in the castle that Bowser hid his weapons in a room connected to the throne room, and he only hoped that Bowser’s throne room had pipes... The goomba took a few moments before nodding. “Follow me, I’ll show you to the throne room,” he squeaked, and turned to walk towards the room.
In a remarkable turn of events, Tosh found himself being led right to Bowser’s throne room without a fight. If Tosh didn’t know better, everyone in the castle was an idiot... but he just hoped that no one wisened up to his ruse. He opened the door to the room, and with a quick dismissal of the goomba with the excuse of not wanting to give away his cleaning secrets he closed the door and looked around the room. Bowser’s throne room was huge, and there was no sign of any doors to other rooms at first glance in the room. Wandering through the room, Tosh looked for any secret passages, or hidden doors behind the Bowser tapestries, but there was no apparent sign that showed another room existing.
“Where could it be...?” Tosh asked, tapping his foot a few times as he glanced around, and then his eyes settled on Bowser’s throne. What if the throne hid a button of some sort to open a secret door? With a quick glance at the door into the room, Tosh walked towards the huge throne. Bowser’s throne was transferred from each of his castles by the magikoopas, and was empowered with magic that the magikoopas had gathered just for Bowser to empower himself whenever he felt worn down, and with years of his evil lingering on the throne and having corrupted the magic it was filled with Bowser’s presence at all times.
No one other than Bowser had ever sat on the throne, but Tosh was about to do so as he reached the foot of the throne. “So big...” he muttered, his eyes growing large as he looked at the huge throne. “Alright...” he muttered, and with a large jump he grabbed the edge of the seat and pulled himself up. “Whew, that was some exercise...” he muttered, sinking back into the plush red seat. As soon as the yoshi had touched the throne the evil magic that lingered in the throne started to absorb into the yoshi, and with how innocent he was it took root quickly as it corrupted him and he started to grow.
“Now where could that button be...?” Tosh wondered, pressing at the arms of the chair as his stomach and legs started growing, his red skin darkening as his tail wagged slightly as he pondered. A shell started forming on the yoshi’s back, spikes sliding out of it as his tail even started to grow a few spikes. Small evil ideas started to sprout inside of his mind, like pranking the other yoshis... or maybe even making them serve him...
Some of the magikoopas had noticed a presence on the Koopa King’s throne, and alerted Bowser causing him to start towards his throne room. Nobody was allowed to sit on his throne, and he’d make sure they followed that rule. Even Bowser wasn’t aware of the effects that would happen to somebody who sat on his throne though, and he was in for a rude awakening as his minions leaped out of his way.
Tosh felt dizzy as he leaned back into the plush red of the throne, suddenly feeling like he shouldn’t worry so much about finding the secret weapons... After all he could make someone else do it for him... A grin spread across the changing yoshi’s face, his mouth starting to grow in some wicked looking sharp teeth. Bowser’s own desires and hatred were pressing into the yoshi’s mind, but at the same time with the magic having gathered up so much evil Tosh was becoming even worse than the Koopa King as he grew larger and his feet pressed into the floor, the shoes on his feet ripping to reveal claws and scaled feet.
The yoshi’s skin stayed mostly the same, but the red was rougher and his hands and feet became scaled as his eyes turned into slits, black bands wrapping around his upper arms and his neck. Tosh felt a nagging sensation at the back of his mind that something was wrong, but he felt so good being evil. His red bumps on the back of his head grew out a bit to look more like spikes, and his tail had wrapped around with some spikes that scraped the side of his throne. A flare of green hair had nestled on the top of his head, and Tosh felt like he needed to redecorate his throne room as the doors flew open.
“What are you doing on my thr... thron...” Bowser stopped as his koopas tromped in behind him, Tosh didn’t look like an innocent yoshi any longer. He’d taken on many of the Koopa King’s own looks, and honestly he looked more intimidating as his claws gripped the arms of the throne. “What... are you?” Bowser asked, his voice small as Tosh looked at him.
For a moment the changed yoshi pondered, and the grin slid across his face once more. “I am Terro, the new king of this castle. I am a mix of koopa and yoshi, bow before me,” he growled, and while Bowser stayed standing his minions bowed quickly to the evil yoshi.
Bowser didn’t look amused though as he roared in anger. “Get off of my throne, and bow before the true king!” The Koopa King was adamant, but Terro merely stood, and glowered at the old king. The magic that had inhabited the throne had been absorbed completely by the yoshi, and he had new powers, and was by far larger than the old king.
“You cannot command your king,” Terro said, and with a glare his eyes turned into green spirals, and Bowser made the mistake of looking into the yoshi’s eyes. He was shocked to find that he couldn’t look away as Terro dug into his mind. “Bow before your king...” Terro growled, and Bowser tried to resist.
“I’m not... you can’t make me... I’m the king...” Bowser said, his voice dulled from the effort of resisting the hypnosis. It was hard though as Terro placed new thoughts of subservience, and the need to please his king. He was merely Bowser the large koopa, and he followed Terro’s orders like a good minion. “I’m... Bowser... I follow... you King Yoshi...” he said, and with his eyes glowing green he bowed to his king.
Terro laughed as Bowser bowed along with the rest of his minions, and he clasped his hands in excitement. “Bring the magikoopas to me, they have to tell me where the lakitus bring the prisoners...”

Moto found himself in the dungeons of Bowser’s castle, unaware of the changes that had happened in leadership. All he knew was that Tosh had never returned, and the village had panicked as a horde of troops had invaded the village. Moto struggled as the magikoopas approached with wands drawn, and he growled at them. “Where did my friend Tosh go?!”
The magikoopas just laughed as a large shape from the shadows approached, and Moto blanched as he saw a creature unlike any he’d seen before grin down upon him. Behind the creature stood Bowser, smiling goofily with a silly little hat on his head, as he had become the king’s new jester. “Tosh is gone, now I stand as Terro. I am King Yoshi, and I will make all Yoshis obey my evil will,” the king chuckled, and Moto shook as he watched the king’s eyes start to glow green.
“Tosh... you’re better than this, you’re good...” Moto pleaded, trying to get to the king’s better side.
The green faded from the king’s eyes, and for a moment the familiar smile of Tosh shown through. “Tosh is better than this... but Tosh is gone, Terro is who I am now, and I command you follow me loyal minion,” he growled, and Moto lost himself in his king’s glowing eyes.
