I hope it wasn't to horrific to look it up. Junji Ito is very good in creating abstract horror scenarios. Uzumaki is about a spiral infestation of a small town. So, it's actually the shapes which drive people mad and which seem to have supernatural abilities, slowly turning spiral shaped objects into something deadly, turning spherical objects into new spirals and even get people to curl up, like Pinkie demonstrates here. I could say, how it ends but I don't want to spoil it in case you are interested. ;)
