I think it looks like an old ink-and-feather sketch. fast and accurate.
I think it looks like a barren landscape straight out of an 'endtime' sci-fi story.
I think you are on the right way.
the structures in the far BG remind me of a certain 80's-sci-fi series whose english title I forgot. something with triangular-shaped aliens. somehow, the rock in the foreground seems to be fixed with fancy cable, and the tree doesn't mind, using the place to root and blossom like there never was a war.
