The craft of intelligence is demonstrated in today's episode. The Master of Elfhame builds up a network in Vulpes-Vulpes, having a fairly easy time recruiting the Royal Tutor has a friend. Pretty much by default. And thanks to the Wolf Queen, who appears to be using some very interesting techniques, he's able to get access to parts of the Royal Palace not ordinarily seen by outsiders. He is getting some insights.
Of course, he also now knows where the royal maize patch is. THAT is critical information.

I know where you are coming from, he does have a bit of a tough gig here... but the Doc lost most of my sympathy as he seemed far too focused on what the situation meant for him and far too little focus on what this meant for his student... he has what seems to be a top notch student but he has missed the signs because he is too worried about, and focussed on, his social/professional standing and the slights he perceives. I have always seen tutoring as an important role where you have to be more focused on your students than on what you are getting out of it.
Like many things in life, jobs are often more abut what you make of them than what they hand to you.
