This is probably my first human story (Say whaaaaaat) lol I decided to try my hand at it. it isnt so hard but I found myself editing out things like paws instead of hands it was kind of odd :p
in any case this is a little holiday story for my mommy
I sincerely hope she (and you!) enjoy this sweet little musing of a young single mother around the holidays.
A Little
Gift
Cheryl smiled looking out at the frosted backyard. The snow had fallen fresh last night leaving the yard in a glistening blanket of white. The cold temperatures outside kept at bay with her nice four walls and central heating.
Breaking away from the window Cheryl smiled as she heard a bit of whining from deeper in the house. Standing up she walked through the living room and down the hallway. Stopping at a door she heard the whining a bit louder now as she cracked the door open revealing a babies nursery.
The walls were painted a light blue with tiny clouds and planes dotted around it. Walking over to the crib she looked down at a tiny bundle of blue blankets moving and whining. Moving the blanket to the side gently she reached down and picked up her baby boy.
Looking down at the little bundle of joy in her arms she smiled brushing his tiny head of brown hair a bit noticing he was a bit heavier than normal she smiled
“I bet I know a little boy who left mommy a present oh yes he did!” She cooed down at him in a sugary sweet voice eliciting a giggle from the little stinker.
Carrying him over to the changing table she unwrapped her little man reenacting the age old task of a mother changing her babies diaper.
After wiping him down with a wet wipe until there was no more mess. The new mommy fluffed out a diaper pouring some powder down onto it and taping it snugly on her little boy taking some time to blow a few raspberries into his tummy making him giggle.
Snapping a Santa themed red onesie on him she gently scooped him up walking into the living room as she listened to his happy content cooes. Sitting gently on the couch she rocked her little one gently. Holding him close to her chest the single mother sighed content herself.
Up until a few months ago the doctors weren’t sure the pregnancy would last the full term. It had been a stressful few months what with the babies father leaving and Cheryl herself not able to work due to the pregnancy itself.
Though through it all she kept the hope that her little one would be safe. Every little kick she felt inside her womb reminded her of the tiny form and renewed her hope. And sure enough it was rewarded as 3 months ago she gave birth to her beautiful baby boy Zach.
Looking down at the rambunctious little one she saw him latched onto her purple tank top trying his hardest to get at her milk. With a little giggle she lifted her tank top and unlatched the strap on her nursing bra.
“There we go buddy. Breakfast is served.”
Latching and nursing hungrily the baby snuggled in a bit closer to his mommy. Getting comfortable on the couch listening to the little noises he made as he nursed she smiled down at him gently patting his diapered bottom.
“Yknow little guy. I don’t need anything at all for Christmas this year. You are my gift. The most beautiful and amazing little boy on the whole planet. And mommy loves you so much. I want to make a promise to you right here and now. Is that ok?”
Hearing his mommy’s voice Zach turned his little head to look up at her as he was switched to her other breast. Latching onto this one he continued to look at her.
“Good boy for paying attention! I promise, here and now, That I will always love and protect you my little boy. I swear that no matter what happens mommy will always hold your best interests at heart and will always be here to lend an ear.”
Reaching down and gently lifting him to her shoulder she gently started patting his back.
“Mommy loves you for now and for always. Now matter how old you get you’ll always be my little boy. My little gift.”
A burp and a coo was what she got in response. Laying him back down she gently smiled once again looking out the window as he slowly drifted into a nap.
The littlest gifts seem to be the ones we take for granted. But she made a vow to herself then and there. This little gift would never forget he was loved.
