So it's been a couple years since I drew this sketch of some random enemies from the Legend of Zelda series. There's plenty of people who've done far more creative full renderings of what were originally tiny pixellated blobs, but I had a couple hours to kill while Dev made dinner last night. If I'd had more foresight I would've made a full scene of them attacking a bishie blond elf, but this was plenty.
For what it's worth, the various humanoid Zelda baddies were some of the first furry crushes I tried drawing, and one of the very first times I made serious attempts at drawing humanoids (no, seriously, prior to that, I rarely drew anything organic). The second game offered a much better range of bipeds, so that was most of the inspiration, but I picked a trio of guys that have showed up in the majority of the games: Mo(l?)blin, Goriya, and Lynel, juggling the orange/red/blue--> weak/medium/strong color schemes. Bulldogs are always hot; I've long had a minor thing for taurs (two tummies ^.^ except I can't draw four-leggers well); and the Goriyas were often kinda cute in the various supplemental art renderings...sometimes they looked ambiguously canine, but I believe officially they are rats. I almost made Goriya shirtless other than the black sash, but that doesn't match his usual outfit.

[edit: Am I that old?? The original Moblins were bulldogs for the first couple games, and notably in the comics and cartoons. They have often made them piglike recently, but not exclusively. http://zelda.wikia.com/wiki/Moblin ; also, http://zelda.wikia.com/wiki/Goriya and http://zelda.wikia.com/wiki/Lynel ).

It varies. It seems the more recent games make them pigs, but they were originally bulldogs. Ocarina of Time 3DS ones are DEFINITELY bulldogs. And are the hottest ones <3

I don't think I've ever seen you draw a 'taur before. They personally strike me as slightly odd in furry form, but I must admit I like the red guy at right.
Yeah, I will say referring to old school baddies it sometimes is very hard to extract what they're supposed to be when, on screen, they're nothing but a handful of squares. Half the time the game cartridge box had better art than the game itself. At least nowadays it's more on par.

Yes, it's from the Link Between Worlds version of Lynel, open for your ab-counting pleasure

(and yes, I see what you did there ;-p)

*Whistles* I was VERY glad when they made the Moblin's HAWT in LoZ:OoT, It's so big, blocking your way...just the way a nice big guy at times does things. ;-3 S'too bad canine enemies arn't too common anymore in the series. Though the darknut's in "Wind Waker" are giant, buff Anubis you have to STRIP in order to beat, (for the most part), so I Gueeees that's not so bad. But why CAN'T they have more Goriya, and Lynel in their games now. XD
ESPECIALLY the Lynel. Big...buff...feline taurs...MRAWR! >=3 What you like about them is another reason to like them. Two bellies is SO MUCH better than one and he looks like he needs some...EXTRA love with his taur self. Plus, I think you did really well at capturing the body and feet of the taur. <3

Well, except they try to club or spear you. (Okay, that STILL sounds dirty). They still have all those guys in the DS games, although the Goriyas no longer have boomerangs.
Okay, there is a DISTINCT bias here, all the people that commented on the Lynel are at least part feline
I tried, have to admit the feline lower body was probably easier than doing a horse-taur body...

FWIW, Dev said LBW is overall way too much of a rehash of A Link to the Past, and lack a storyline, so he didn't enjoy it much. I've actually never gotten far in LTTP, so on that front, I found the game a lot more fun. It's fairly non-linear, which we found was both good and bad. So...YMMV.
I think Spirit Tracks was my favorite of the 3/DS ones, though.
BIASED!

Hahah I know the feeling. My friends have the N64 and the PS2. What did I have? A Gameboy color, eventually got a dreamcast. The only reason why I got to play Ocarina of Time was because when I finally got a gamecube after months of hinting for gift ideas for the holidays. The gamecube came with a disc that has a bunch of full Zelda games on it including the ones on the N64.
