In the year 289 since the Fall of the Dragons, the great King Harold of House Marton marched his army north into the lands of King Roger VI of House Aerreyon with Barton the Black Wolf, that King's bastard brother, at the head of his army.
Both armies met on the plains at the edge of a forest, the good Princes Arron and Roland, and his cousin Agar, led their great lords into the King's host. Each had been ordered not to return to their King without victory upon the field of battle, and none did. For the Black Wolf slew all of his royal relatives, stealing the ancestral sword, The Dancing Flame.
With so many of their leaders slain, the northern host was sent flying north with the Black Wolf on their heels. Thus began the fall of the House of Aerreyon.
