How are the Professor Layton games anyway? I've always been curious to try them but I never could figure out what kind of a game it is. Is it an investigative puzzle game???

Its a game series with a brilliant story in each one of them with some fun puzzles and minigames :) plus, it even has a bit of replay value if you're not good on your first playthrough (example being you make a lot of mistakes and lose these points that are used to unlock extra content.)

It's a story driven puzzle game that has a plethora of puzzles to solve some simple, some complex and some that are quit infuriating. It is a very enjoyable journey with charming characters. I personally recommend starting with the DS trilogy because i'll be damned if those stories didn't make me all misty eyed. The diabolical box is my personal favorite though.
