Collecting has completely stopped while I focus on throwing money at my competition taxidermy stuff and I did snag a nice lawyer cabinet so I decided to finally put a picture on FA. I took a picture of each shelf and stuck them all together for better quality so comparative sizes between levels is off.
I cleaned many of these from a raw state and degreased/ whitened most of the others. There are a few that are still greasy and need to soak again, but I haven't gotten around to setting everything up and have more pressing projects.
The majority were bought or gifted from fellow taxidermists, hunters, and trappers. Some were found nature cleaned.
From left to right, back row then front row:
Level 1: male otter skull/ spine/ “stuff”, white-tailed deer, giraffe, American alligator
Level 2: male African lion, male mountain lion, female African lion (captive bred, 16 at death, was named Sheba), Silver-tipped myotis bat, crow, male raccoon, serval, male mink, male martin, lynx
Level 3: grey wolf, black bear, spotted hyena, domestic cat, male coyote, red fox, opossum, male otter, juvenile Chinese water deer, stoat, muskrat, male bobcat, badger
Level 4: coyote, horse, domestic dog, white-tailed deer, bobcat, feral pig, arctic fox, ring tailed cat.
The un-pictured bottom shelf still has some boxes of skulls/ skull parts/ other oddbobs that need a home. The soft mount badgers live there, too.
I have a mess of other related items but I thought it sensible to only focus on my major collection.

One of these days I will get a leopard (can't be purchased over state lines, so I can only buy within MS) and a polar bear but both have many laws attached and don't crop up often.
The majority of other items I seek are not all that rare in the grand scheme of things and more of a matter of waiting for one that I like the quality of/ I find interesting/ the price is right.

I need to move the bottle over - it got shoved behind the giraffe after the last dusting and I haven't paused to fix it.
And its not hard - one time I got 2 lions and a hyena individually shrink-wrapped and then also shrink together with a layer of bubble wrap around them and all was well haha. It doesn't take much :)

Maybe cling wrap was the stuff I was trying to say. It kept the jaws attached to the head so nothing could move around and damage the teeth. Packing tape or rubber bands could do the same thing.
And I have a list skulls/ natural oddities I plan to acquire, but it is secret because I enjoy the hunt myself :)

They are all real bone.
I'm a patient person and would rather wait for the real thing to crop up - if it ever does - than buy a cast unless I became enamored with a specific, highly protected animal. Much of the fun is the hunt and sometimes finding pathological/ unique skulls so I have little interest in casts.
The only replica items I have in there are a coyote, bobcat, otter, and 2 WT deer noses for taxidermy/ reference and a pair of WT deer eyes for an upcoming competition piece.
