it bores me but its a good double team pokemon slurpuff is cuter in my opinion

It kinda still is to a degree, the masks were supposed to carry spices and such to freshen the air since back then it was believed that illnesses were caused by bad air or "miasma", it's evolve form kinda mashes other themes connected to scents and perfumes into it, including the mask taking more of a masquerade form with the pokemon's fur looking like a ball gown of some kind.

Game freak likes to combine a number of themes and design aspects into a single pokemon family, while it can get a bit absurd at times it's still something I appreciate with the developers.
