Last year, I did this sketch for Hellbender:

This year he asked whether I could draw an Orca, but make him even bigger. I figured the best way to show scale would be to include the otter from last year's sketch for comparison. :)

Sometimes. :) I enjoy designing and drawing buff critters of course, but it depends on what the situation or story requires, or, in most cases, what a person has commissioned. :)
If you scroll back a bit in
delako's gallery you'll find a pencil series I did for him awhile back that had some bellyness in it. Or this color commission I did for him: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/502402/

Wow, Cooner, I really liked the first image and I'm really impressed with how this one turned out too. ^^
I don't think I've seen you do many Orcas before, but I think you did this one very well. Actually, it's not often I get to see orcas in any art at all, so it's nice that you did the details so well, like the coloring and particularly the tail. Also, musculature's always been one of your strong points, and it really looks good here. I especially like the arms and the abs. Finally the expressions here are great too, I really like how happy the orca looks and the otter's surprise makes me chuckle whenever I see it.
I wouldn't mind seeing this series keep going each year. Thanks a lot for sharing your work with us! ^^
