Another from our set of music for weddings and special events. Everyone is familiar with this piece, and honestly, I have played this so much that it's a bit grating on me lol but I know people enjoy it so here it is again. Actually I quite like how our version comes out. I recorded this and I am the pianist. Enjoy!

Like most other works by Pachelbel and other pre-1700 composers, the Canon remained forgotten for centuries and was rediscovered only in the 20th century. Several decades after it was first published in 1919 the piece became extremely popular.
Pachelbel's Canon combines the techniques of canon and ground bass. Canon is a polyphonic device in which several voices play the same music, entering in sequence. In Pachelbel's piece, there are three voices engaged in canon, but there is also a fourth voice, the basso continuo, which plays an independent part.

This particular piece has always been on of my favorite studies in music. It is simple enough for just about anyone at any level of music theory to pick up and analyze and makes for a great teaching piece for when students become so put off by misunderstanding of concepts of voice leading, chordal progression, and the various forms of canon. It is also one of the best examples for showing how such amazing pieces can be written to no popularity at first, but decades later, come to become one of the most inspirational pieces of the 80s and 90s with so many pop artists taking the simple concepts laid out in this beautiful work of art, and create something completely completely new.
