Sekra cursed his luck. or rather his lack of luck. After a long chase of narrowly dodging his 2 female pursuers and a few close calls, closer in fact than he would have liked, he had almost reached the point that would allow him to get back home. back into his world and leave this crazy place and the plotting Thalestris behind him. he even was looking forward in glancing back to see their dumb faces disappear in the swirling vortex of portal magic.
That's when the other two had shown up. again, he didn't know who they were. one was another wolfess dressed in some like armor and looking like the fighter type. the other one was a lioness with a hood, cloak and an oddly glowing staff. a mage type perhaps? seemed the most likely. the new arrivals had quickly joined up with the wolfess and vixen already chasing him, doing a perfect job of cutting off his escape route in the process. Sekra was forced to make a turn and head into another direction, effectively heading away from the portal again and deeper into unknown territory. from there on, it was only a matter of time until his unfamiliarity caused him to slip.
Now, here he was. back against the wall and surrounded by 4 females closing in on him. normally he'd love situations like this. him being surrounded by 4 rather attractive looking females, slowly heading towards him. usually that meant a lot of fun was coming his way. unfortunately the angry looks and dark scowls on their faces made it quite clear that their intentions were anything but "let's find out how well he performs in bed".
he glanced to his left. the first wolfess in the black and yellow outfit cracked her knuckles in eager anticipation. he looked forward. the vixen was heading towards him with a determined expression on her masked face, her pose that of a battle hardened warrior ready for combat. he looked to his right. the wolfess in the red and black armor had dropped into a combat pose but kept her distance, trying to get a read on him. the lioness mage or whatever she was had her glowing staff firmly at the ready while holding a hand out to him, though he couldn't tell if she was preparing a spell or just telling him to stop.
Sekra's mind raced as he mentally checked his options, what few there were. well, they hadn't tried to kill him yet. which was pretty good in his book. they hadn't attacked him yet either, also a good thing. that reassured him a little. if any of them would be associated to Thalestris, they would have tried either of them by now.
"Looks like you've got nowhere left to run" one of them said, breaking his chain of thought for a moment. he couldn't tell which one had said it though. whoever it was, they had been right. he had nowhere left to run. so, what to do? fight them? they were 4 against him and he had his back against a wall. still, he had faced, survived and won worse in the past. he was skilled enough a swordsman with the one or the other magic spell that made him confident he had a fair chance against them.
however, he dismissed the idea rather quickly. no, fighting them was not an option. they weren't his enemies, per say, as they were not associated with Thalestris. it was very likely that they weren't even aware of who Thalestris was in the first place. they had been chasing him not because he had stolen a magic trinket of hers, but because he stole from a seemingly innocent, law abiding citizen.
so, instead of drawing his blade, he slowly raised his hands in a calming gesture, trying to put on... well, he didn't know what face to put on, so it might have ended up with him looking like a kid who got caught stealing from the cookie jar. "now, now, ladies" he began in a calming, soothing and actually apologetic tone of voice. "let's be reasonable here. there is a perfectly fine explanation for this..." a snort from one of them "yeah right" he ignored the snarky remark and instead focused on trying to calm them down and reason with them.
unbeknown to him however, the 4 female warriors weren't the only ones standing in this alley, watching the lone lizard. nobody seemed to notice a lone eagle standing in the shadows of a tall building and watching the group through hate filled eyes. an odd thing, considering that the eagle was dressed in a suit of heavy armor that looked as though it came from a video game or science fiction movie. yet, the armor made no sound as he moved. neither did the sword the eagle slowly unsheathed. a smirk slowly spread across the eagles sharp, aristocratic face as his eyes fell upon the glowing crystal hanging from Sekra's belt. *looks like i found you, old friend* Marius Tiberias thought as he slowly retreaded further into the shadows, his sinister gaze fixed on the unsuspecting group...
