I fully agree. I think my pixel art is the best of all my arts. I can never find ways to use it though, haha.

Many times, folks reserve creation of 16-bit goodness to sprites, icons and such. I've only rarely seen fully-realized scenes created with pixel art as backgrounds for them tend to be rare, so that could be something to try. A tip I'd offer for backgrounds with sprites is that you can clarify the separation between subjects and backgrounds by turning up the brightness of backgrounds a bit, just enough to make backgrounds clearly whiter. Whatever you do with pixel art, I'll look forward to what you whip up in the future.
