"I still remember the picture I took that day"
---
My thoughts from (nearly) 2015, but if one's not into reading look at this instead http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15314712/ :
This image was created december 10´th, 2011, almost four years ago.
Whilst sketching renamon on a A5 paper the feeling "This could turn out great if worked upon" arose.
Even back then, it was very clear. A beautiful background serves to enhance the subject and overall feel, whilst a background that turns out bad ruins the entire picture. Tailsrulz, who was and very much still is, my greatest inspiration, had nailed it with his stunning scenery with which the ladies actually interact with.
But being very much self-critical, it's obvious my own images lacked just that.
"Why sit for hours and create something regrettably plain and out of perspective, every little change requiring a redraw, when nature has every colour, setting, mood and beauty imaginable?". 'twas a thought born from, quite honestly a frustration of my lack of skills, and it became my solution.
---
To this day, my backgrounds are mixed media. I tend to think like I'm seeing things trough a camera lens when drawing, presumably a side-effect of playing games like Mario and Zelda where everything existed in a 3D world, which you could zoom, move and change the angle and placement of the camera until it looked just right.
I do like her winter fur more, seeing Tailsrulz depiction of her was the reason for choosing it. Back then I was a very different person, but the love for floof has stayed.
...
It's a special piece for me, it's the first one I had the courage to submit to deviantart because it was beautiful enough. It went by largely unnoticed, it really should have been submitted here -had I known this place existed-.
I did submit something -awful- a few years earlier, but the "constructive critique" I received wasn't very constructive to say the least.
Sidenote, she's photographing the clouds, not taking a selfie, this was way before I even knew such a thing existed.
