Christmas and New Year are beautiful holidays indeed. But I don't want to lie anymore. I stopped drawing Henry's happy faces on Christmas like there for example. Every New Year I feel so lonely. This time - really lonely. My family is so far from me. My friends will celebrate holidays with their friends, not with me. They all are in different towns. Though I suggested them how and where to celebrate new year. But they made their choice..
Don't get me wrong, but I do not like these holidays.. Sorry, just couldn't keep it inside of me anymore.
As to you, guys, I wish you all Happy New Year and belated Merry Christmas, having fun and stay close to your friends and relatives.

I feel ya man, I really do. Living in another country, seeing everyone else go back home, enjoying the festivities and family. Heck I'm here wondering how the hell I'm going to pay for next years classes. Not really in the mood to be happy. And I feel guilty that I cant muster enough of if to be genuinely glad for my friends, far away, having a good time. All In all, crummy situation to be in, best for what little its worth, good luck to you, and hope this feeling passes.
Im sorry you feel lonely. id give ya a hug if i could and tell you that thrre is allways someone who loves you and is there for you. but i agree, i also dislike the holidays.... sooo much negativity and stuff.
thnk you for sharing and for your art! your art allways moves me and allways stirs such emotion within me. you are an amazing artist, but more than that, your personality and spirit comes through. Hope your new year turns out to be an amazing adventure!

There are a lot of people in the same situation, maybe even worse.
Just remember. First: There are always reasons to cheer up.
Second: A lot of people sees xmas like the time of the year to see their loved ones. Dont get attached to one day. Whenever you can, go and see your loved ones. Xmas should not be one day, should be always :)

Don't be sad, there are still some ways to cheer up on these days
Like, you can give yourself a good dinner after a hard-working year, always give yourself a better gift, you can be so happy, so happy that you wanna to tell your family what you've done for this holiday
Cheer up Ang, laugh louder, and feel the joy of the holiday (Bad English here , Asian English)

Can relate too, and not just for Xmas but every holiday.
1) I live far from my family, so the best I can do is call and wish everyone well.
2) I work at a casino, an entertainment/tourist industry. They RARELY, in fact almost never, allow employees time off as they perceive holidays as MONEY TIME, not FAMILY time. The only time I got Christmas off was 2 years ago thanks to my days off landing on the holidays, and the visit lasted barely 3 days.
It gives me incentive to resume my education so I can get into a real, meaningful career that has more flexibility.
All the same, try to make the most of your holidays even if it's alone.

No harm in taking your time, but I presume you refer to being lonely and having no desire to rush to an empty home.
What may help are pictures of loved ones. I've recently begun hanging pictures of friends, relatives, and places I've been. They help you remember what you value, and while in the present you may be alone you can think back to times you had friends about, remember how they made you feel, and it might brighten your mood in the present. Not a perfect solution, but it is a way to help capture those moments and people you valued.
