This is one of my very favorite go to meals, and now I am sharing this with you guys! I am foodie at heart, and I love to make home cook meals~ So What I have here is my mise en place! Starting from the left to right, I have...
- pinch of Salt
- 1 tsp black Pepper
- 1 Bay leaf
- 1 Can of Fired Roasted Diced Tomatoes (14.5-ounce)
- 1/4 Cup Tomato paste
- 1/2 Cup Finely Chopped Cilantro or Coriander (whatever you prefer to say!)
- 1/2 Cup Poblano pepper
- 1/3 Cup Spring onion
- 1/2 tbs Garlic (finely mince, unless you like eating a chunk of garlic!)
- Sazon Goya (con culantro y achiote) If you can't find it at your local grocery store, use paprika! Smoked would be even better!
- 1/2 tbs cumin
- 1 tsp Oregano
- 1/2 tsp Chili flakes (optional.)
- 2 pounds of ground Turkey
Any ground meat can be used on this recipe, Turkey, Beef, Pork etc!~
In a medium/large pot put 1 tbs of olive oil, on medium heat. When the olive oil begins to sizzle, add the Ground meat into the pot and start to mince up to finer pieces, once the ground meat is almost fully brown, add the cumin, pepper flakes, bay leaf, and oregano to bring out the aroma. after 2-3 mins, then you want to add in the garlic, onions, poblano pepper, cilantro, fire roasted tomatoes, and tomato paste. If the chili isnt fully submerge on its own sauce then add some water and let it cook for an hour in low flames with lid slightly closed. After an hour has pass, adjust for seasoning with salt if needed. But since there is sazon in this recipe you would hardly need it, unless you use paprika.
