This is a bit of a series, some of it being by request, and some just being cuz I felt like it. There’s four pix in this little series. This is pic one of four.
I figured the best place to start on a series is to introduce the kitty himself. Of course, you’ve already met Drifter, but this is a little different picture, being that it’s winter, and he’s posing right nicely, I think. :) So this seemed to place to start.
Drifter is almost 5-years-old in this pic. What a purty kitty!
So, here he is, including the three more to follow. :)
This picture was taken 12-Jan-04. The image was taken with a Canon EOS 10D and the EF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 USM lens. The original was taken at full frame of 3072x2048x24b, ISO eqv 400, 1/250 shutter, f/4.5. This image was shrunken down for space conservation.
Disclaimer: I hate to have to put up things like this, and most certain I hate to marr the front of an otherwise decent picture with copyright, but because there are thieving twits out there, this has become necessary; this pic copyright me. Please do not distribute, copy, alter, etc, without my permission. Having said all that, feel free to download and view it for your own inspiration.

Most animals don't mind the "baby talk" to them, as it's not really about the words so much as the tone-of-voice.
As far as your family, doesn't your dad work for the Navy? If his job is like mine, and he has to deploy, then there's probably not a whole lot of "luring" to be done. But you should at least asking him about it. He can probably give you a ball-park idea of when he's going out and when he'll returns. So you should ask.

Drifter is very observant of so many things. Whenever I build around his cage, he's always acting like he's snoozing, but he's watching. I've always joked that you never go into the cage with tools, as he'll steal them from you, and then, when you're not looking, take his cage apart with his new toys and escape. :)
He's a smart kitty; you can see all those little gears and wheels turning behind those bright eyes. :)

Thank you, Friend Feren! I am but a humble servant, in sear of that /perfect/ picture of those I love most! But alas, wildlife photography is a challenge. Out of the almost 60,000 photos I have, I thing about 100 of them are what I'd consider as "good".
I must say, your photography is also very good. Most impressive. :)

I think it sounds like we have mutual admiration. I'd love to do more wildlife photography (especially of big cats in their native habitat) but alas I settle for what I can get.
I also know full well what you mean by 60,000 photos and 100 you'd consider "good." What I consider good is, for the most part, on this gallery or my deviantART gallery. According to LightRoom, I have approximately 11,050 pictures. I have ... 57 images or so? Hooray, that's half of 1%!
Regardless, please keep shooting your wonderful work and sharing here. I look forward to the next set of big cat images!

I think that's just the norm for people who have an eye for what they like and are rather critical of their own work, like many artists are. For me, I just like things to be "perfect", even tho that's probably not possible. Nonetheless, it's something to strive for, and of course, with the advent of the digital cameras, that means you can take all the shots to your heart's content, and they don't really cost you a dime! I've had to "relearn" photography in a lot of ways, but I truly love the flexibility of being able to take photos, and not have to wait till the roll is done, and then get it developed, and then see that the whole roll is crud. So digicams are kinda nice in many ways.
I just got a Canon 50D, and so far, I /love/ it. It's a /lot/ more capable than the 10D, and 15.3mpxl besides. I'm sure I'll have a grand lot of fun with this one too, just like I did the tried-and-true 10D.
So, hopefully soon, I'll have some new stuff, from the 50D up for your viewing pleasure. :)

I've heard some really good things about the 40D. It was more the choice of the prices were similar, and of course, the 50d had just a few more bells-and-whistles. I was /really/ looking at the 5D (i think the mk II) and while I liked the features, I just couldn't justify the cost, as I'm a bit sporadic these days. But good lock with things. It's definitely an awesome camera. ;)
