This is a bit of a series, some of it being by request, and some just being cuz I felt like it. There’s four pix in this little series. This is three of four (and one of two, for those easily confused).
This is Drifter in a bit more playful mood, mostly wanting me to come into the cage with him, to: A) pay some closer attention to him, and B) give him something to pounce on!
Cats will roll over and paw the air for a lot of reasons. Sometimes it’s to stretch, sometimes to just take a load off the paws, sometimes to cool the back off in some cool dirt, and sometimes as an indication that it’s definitely time to play!
This one is obviously not the best picture every, but I think it might serve as a decent reference to how the various musculatures and fur densities mesh together on the chest and underside. While cats /are/ very barrel chested, they have extremely orbital shoulders that allow a quite impressive span of movement, which I think this pic demonstrates just a small bit. The pectoral muscles are a bit difficult to see because of the camera angle, but it’s still a bit visible on the right foreleg.
So, that’s about it for that one. Feel free to launch with questions or comments, and I’ll see what I can come up with for answers.
This picture was taken 17-Jun-03. The image was taken with a Canon EOS 10D and the EF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 USM lens. The original was taken at full frame of 3072x2048x24b, ISO eqv 400, 1/45 shutter, f/5.6. This image was shrunken down for space conservation.
Disclaimer: I hate to have to put up things like this, and most certain I hate to marr the front of an otherwise decent picture with copyright, but because there are thieving twits out there, this has become necessary; this pic copyright me. Please do not distribute, copy, alter, etc, without my permission. Having said all that, feel free to download and view it for your own inspiration.
