This is a bit of a series, some of it being by request, and some just being cuz I felt like it. There’s four pix in this little series. This is four of four (and two of two, for those easily confused).
Drifter is showing of a bit of his more playful side, probably trying to convince me to come into the cage with him, and obviously, holding the camera, I’m just not paying him enough attention!
Cats will roll over and paw the air for a lot of reasons. Sometimes it’s to stretch, sometimes to just take a load off the paws, sometimes to cool the back off in some cool dirt, and sometimes as an indication that it’s definitely time to play!
Drifter has somewhat of a deviant streak, much like any other cougar I’ve ever met. In this case, just in case you don’t speak cougar, Drifter is saying: “Come just a little closer! I want to show you my big paw, up close, as it smacks into the side of your face!”
This pic too, though it’s a bit of a blur, shows a bit of the anatomical structure from the down-side-up, and especially how those rather muscled forelegs can move, including a very similar structure that lets them rotate those big paws around, not-so-different than we can our hands.
So, this is another Up-Side-Down-Drifter pic, for you to enjoy, and maybe even study a bit!
This picture was taken 17-Jun-03. The image was taken with a Canon EOS 10D and the EF 28-200mm f/3.5-5.6 USM lens. The original was taken at full frame of 3072x2048x24b, ISO eqv 400, 1/90 shutter, f/4. This image was shrunken down for space conservation.
Disclaimer: I hate to have to put up things like this, and most certain I hate to marr the front of an otherwise decent picture with copyright, but because there are thieving twits out there, this has become necessary; this pic copyright me. Please do not distribute, copy, alter, etc, without my permission. Having said all that, feel free to download and view it for your own inspiration.

Lovely expression. Dont worry about marring your image. Protect yourself. a ghosted logo, a line of copy are now pretty much your first line of defense and ya just gotta do it.... also take a bit of time every 3 months pic the stuff that you really thing you ought to be protecting and register the copyright (its pretty cheap) and most definitely make sure your © is in the metadata of the image.
Drifter is about 130lbs or 60kg, and I look for a "piggy-back ride" pic, as it's rather humorous, especially that I'm the "piggy" and Drifter's getting the "ride". And "no", as I'm getting old, and my "kids" are plenty strong enuf to walk on their own paws, thankyouverymuch! :)
(Shasta nods) I've always found that most male cougars have rather "washed-out" colors, as in, the contrasts are not nearly as dramatic as the females. But there's always exceptions to the "rules". Drifter has rather nice facial contrasts, and so did Dagger. :)
And for sake of reference, compare Jasmine -- http://www.furaffinity.net/view/379551/ -- with Sage -- http://www.furaffinity.net/view/361070/ -- and you'll see how much more dramatic Jasmin's facial highlights are than Sage's. :)
