April seems to be looming over me. It;'s coming up too fast!
Otachi has her horns now and a nearly finished paint job. Next up the LEDs for the roof of her mouth and the hood complete with her plates. I haven't even started the bodysuit or singe or ANYTHING. Sigh.
This was originally a DVC round node dragon blank with TONS of editing done by me (you can see the progress in my gallery)
LED eyes and silicon tongue also by DVC.

Hah, thank you! Just need her mouth LEDs to get wired up then tie for the hood. I'm still waiting for the base body suit to arrive from england (It's a bike racer suit thing thenI build the costume up off that as I'm TERRIBLE at sewing. No sewing machine.) That way I can just start to put the foam down directly onto the suit then get the finish fabric on top of that.
Hehe, thanks! I like the litt personal touches, personally, but I can't help but feel they'll be pointed out. Oh well. And I canceled the otachi figurine, it said the release was Jan 2015...but what they really meant was it would reach stores in late Feb and reach customers mid march....the costume needs to be done by then, so that defeats the purpose. Sigh. If you say it will be released Jan... then make sure you mean it and don't have these hidden wait times. Makes me sad.
Sooooo cool! I am really loving every part about her. :D What materials did you do the additional sculpting with? I am curious since I think epoxy sculpt might become heavy after a bit and customizing blanks in the future is definitely something I'd like to do myself. ^w^
I ALWAYS feel I have to add my own flare to blanks before i do anything with them, so having a reliable but light weight sculpting material is SUPER important to me. I use "Free Form Air", it is a two part sculpting material which is highly toxic. I can be sanded and so forth after it's hard also but you have to wear a mask. I mean, this stuff is TOXIC. I used gloves to mix the two parts but then I take the gloves off to work with the stuff as gloves wont give me smooth results nor good detail. I get up to completely wash my hands every... 3-5 minutes when working with it. As troublesome as that can be, the results are WAY worth it. This stuff is insanely light yet superbly durable (and water proof as this stuff can even cure underwater!).
I hAven't worked with resin myself or I'd hands down be sculpting and casting my own mask shapes. I just don't have the space (I'm nearly 30 and can't afford to live on my own, so i rent from my parents and they dictate EVERYTHING I do). -sigh- but one day I hope to be released from this prison. One day, and on that day, I shall make resin maskssssssss!
