Well, time for a little practise: I've tried new coloring style, when you do almost everything in black, grey, 'n white, then color, and then just fix some mistakes. I know, it's very far from being perfect, but I should start at least from anything, so... :XD:
I did this one few days ago :]
Here are two mine characters: Sui and Sipo. The idea is to put some starting information about those two, due to the story that I'm planning to tell in the future.
Spelling: Sui goes as "Su-ee" and Sipo goes as "See-po".
You know, it's kinda funny and strange, but with those two I somehow associate the song from the movie "Brother bear" by Phil Collins.
Phil Collins – On My Way
Sui.
He's a wolf. Once he was captured by humans and brought to a small town in the North, where the main method of transportation are dog sleds. Because of his markings he looks more like a husky than a wolf(a very big husky, lol), so he was not killed, and humans decided to train him. Sui was clever enough not to resist them, and this saved his life. He didn't give up, he decided to wait and play other's game rules for a time.
Sui is non-conflict by his nature, kind and independent, and kinda "non-accusing person", but yet resolute, so he never start any fight himself; basically only dogs from the team were about to provoke and attack him. Especially the leader. Nobody wants to share the team with a wolf, with their archenemy. The leader, Spitz, sometimes steales Sui's meal, and besides, he never lose a chance to "put a spoke in his wheel".
Sipo.
She's an alaskan malamute. Her full name is Sipuha, which goes as "See-poo-ha". "Sipuha" in Russian means "Barn-owl". : )
And yep, her eye color is different. At first, when Sui didn't know her name, in his thoughts he called her "Copper", relating on her markings color : ) Also he associated her with a baby doe - because of white spots on her back and on her muzzle. But he doesn't take her serious.
Sipo is not afraid of wolves, because she has never seen them, and that is her main problem, btw. She doesn't understand the lever of danger she brings on her. Sometimes she's nervous and fussy(especially when she hear the "call of the wild". I mean wolf's howl), but mostly very active and good-natured.
For sure, those two are bound by the story.
I like one of their dialogues, that put a start of their communication. It happened after the fight, when Spitz attacked Sui one more time, stealing his meal and after Sui tried to defend himself, other dogs attacked him too. Humans separated the fight and Sui was punished, because he was thought as a provoker.
Lying at a distance from others, tried not to pay attention to pain, that fettered his body like a chain, Sui heard careful steps, and immediately jumped up, growling in menacing way, expecting worst things to happen.
- Slow down, I'm in your pack! - It was Sipo. Always cheerful and wagging her tail, she put a piece of meat she brought near her paws. Apparently, it has to be part of the meal.
- And I'm in nobody's. - He snorted, and turned back, returning to the same thing he was doing before he was distracted by a sudden visitor: lay on the snow.
- Well, then you can be in my pack. - Sipo decided not to give up.
- Pf, and who's also there?
- Only you. - Replied a dog making a pause, being lost in the thought.
- A pack? Together? - Sui doesn't take serious neither this scheme, nor Sipo, actually, too.
- For sure! - She started to wag her tail affably again.
As you may understand Sipo's positive is really contagious and convincing : )
